For the hardware, PS4 Pro is better than the previous PS4 variants. This is because of the new GPU, AMD Polaris, that Sony claimed to be able to work 2x faster than PS4 (FAT) and PS4 Slim GPU. Although the rest of the hardware used on the regular PS4 and PS4 Pro is the same, PS4 Pro’s GPU is 4.20 TFLOPS.

Because of the better-performing GPU, PS4 Pro needs more power to run the console. If a regular PS4 uses 165W power, then PS4 Pro needs twice the power or 310W. The processor, RAM, DB/DVD Drive, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and WiFi are using the same hardware. PS4 Pro still uses 1TB HDD with 8GB of RAM, but PS4 Pro has HDMI out port (supports 4K/HDR) and Digital Out (Optical) port.

4. Performance for Virtual Reality Games

Virtual Reality (VR) is a popular trend in today’s gaming industry. Trying to make a breakthrough in the VR market, Sony implemented the VR feature to its consoles. Out of all PS4 variants, PS4 Pro is the best console for playing VR games. Although it shows the same resolution, PS VR in PS4 Pro shows better graphics compared to the regular PS4.

Last but not least, the price tag is a nightmare for gamers that are looking to buy PS4. Nowadays, Sony only sells PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, while a brand new PS4 (FAT) is already a rare item.
