Marvel wouldn't be lying if they said that Spider-Man No Way Home is a film equal to Avengers Endgame. How can they? This film has a multiverse scale; it brings up old characters from all Spider-Man films that have been released before the MCU Spider-Man films. From Green Goblin to Electro, they become the villains in Spider-Man No Way Home.

Spider-Man No Way Home is arguably one of the best Spider-Man films ever released. In the author's personal opinion, it even almost equals Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, which is the best superhero film of all time. It’s because of the neat and interesting storyline, the conflict that feels very personal to Peter Parker, and also the allotted role for each character that fits into the film.

So, speaking of character roles, which villain has the best role in Spider-Man No Way Home? Here is the review!

SPOILER ALERT!

5. Dr. Curtis Connors / The Lizard

The Lizard first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man. The character whose real name is Dr. Curtis Connors is actually a pretty interesting character. Not to mention, his figure when he became The Lizard was very intimidating—just imagine that you are being chased by a large, savage monster.

Although the fighting scene against Spidey is quite tense, the role of The Lizard is minimal in this film. When he first appeared, he had already been caught by Dr. Strange, then spent most of his time in the truck. Because of that, he is at number 5 on this list.

4. Maxwell “Max” Dillon / Electro

The villain that appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Electro's appearance in the MCU is much better than in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Electro doesn't experience many changes/character developments in No Way Home. The character’s not very attention grabbing, one-dimensional, and flat—a build from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that wasn't quite as good.

But this character proves to be the second biggest threat (after the Green Goblin) to Spidey. He is very strong and hard to beat. At the first meeting, Spidey almost lost were it not for Sandman's help. In the second encounter, after upgrading himself with Tony Stark's Arc Reactor, he even almost defeated and killed 3 Spider-Man if not for Doc Ock's help.

3. Flint Marco / Sandman

First appearing in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, Flint Marco had a minimal role in Spider-Man No Way Home. First appearing to help Spider-Man (something that most viewers did not expect), Flint then fights Spider-Man because he wants to return to his world to meet his daughter.

This character's goals are understandable, but it feels quite forced as it contradicts other villains who don't want to return to their universe. It felt weird if he fought Spidey and didn't help him catch the other villains so things could be sorted out quickly and he could go home—although that's understandable because he doesn't believe in Spidey/confused with everything that's going on.

All of that, coupled with his appearance in CGI form for most of the film, makes Flint in the 3rd position on this list.

2. Otto Octavius / Doc Ock

The villain who first appeared in one of the best superhero films—if not the best—Spider-Man 2. Doc Ock is a very interesting character. His first appearance in No Way Home made the audience cheer. His battle with Spidey who uses the Iron Spider costume is also very exciting and interesting. He also almost beat Spidey if it weren't for the blunder he made by absorbing the Iron Spider costume's nano tech—which hacked his mechanical hand.

Otto gets the help he needs at No Way Home. With Peter's technology chip, he returns to being the good Otto—a figure that Peter (Tobey Maguire) admires. He also had time to help the three Spider-Man who almost died by Electro.

1. Norman Osborn / Green Goblin

Be it in the comics or in the movies, the Green Goblin is arguably Spider-Man's mortal enemy. This character is downright dangerous and overwhelms Spidey—and he does the same in No Way Home. His battle with Spidey in the apartment building is also very exciting and tense.

The Green Goblin itself can be said to be pure evil, and one-dimensional, but that doesn't stop Norman Osborn from being a charismatic and terrifying villain—all thanks to Willem Defoe's top-notch acting! You could say, without Norman Osborn, No Way Home would not be a film as emotional as this.
