Meeting and departing are something common for humans to have, moreover in the One Piece universe where the journey started from one arc to another. Luffy and his cremates have met and departed with a lot of people.

But, in between those encounters, many encounters have been awaited by fans due to past experiences. Here are 8 future encounters that will bring One Piece fans to tears.

1. Koala and Jinbei

During her childhood, Koala had a rough experience. The smile that she always gives when she was a little girl is an attempt to break free from the torture. When she was a slave, she would be punished until she died if she was crying or stopped working.

Luckily, she was saved by Fisher Tiger of the Sun Pirates, who break free slaves from being enslaved.

During her time at Sun Pirates, Koala still had nightmares or traumas, making her keep smiling and keep working as if she was still a slave. In the end, Koala was treated well by Sun Pirates. She was seen to idolize Jinbei, Hachi, and Macro when on the board with the Sun Pirates.

2. Sabo and Dawn Island Inhabitants

Luffy’s childhood experience with Ace and Sabo leaves a scar in the hearts of Makino and Dadan upon knowing that Sabo was reported dead. It’s because, of not only Sabo but also Ace, who was later killed in Marineford War.

But the truth is Sabo is still alive and well, but only losing his memory. Sadly, if we’re talking about Sabo’s current fate and whereabouts, is covered in darkness, or we should say, unknown.

However, if Sabo is still alive, then his reunion with the Dawn Island people would be a joy.

3. Zoro and Mihawk

Zoro’s encounter with Mihawk is quite unique, due to their first encounter where the two clashed swords, resulting in Zoro being badly injured. But, in the second encounter, Zoro instead pleaded with Mihawk to teach him. Zoro, who threw away his pride, made Mihakw impressed and accepted him as his pupil.

After two years of a time skip, Zoro’s swordsmanship skill has increased rapidly. It is worth noting that the two’s next encounter will be an amazing duel. Will Zoro win this time against his mentor who once defeated him?

4. Luffy and Bon Clay

Luffy and Bon Clay’s friendship that was presented during the Impel Down arc was quite tear-jerking for the audience. The friendship and sacrifice presented by the two make everyone who watched them will be very emotional.

Bon Clay was reported to be dead after sacrificing his life for Luffy and other prisoners to break free. It turns out that Bon Clay is still alive and currently lives at Impel Down level 5.5 and replacing Ivankov.

The two’s reunion is something that fans wanted to look out for, moreover, Luffy still doesn’t know about Bon Clay’s fate after the breakout.

5. Vivi and Straw Hat Pirates

Vivi declined to embark on an adventure along with Luffy and the others because she’s the princess of the Arabasta kingdom. Until now, Vivi still supports the Straw Hat Pirates and knows their actions through the newspaper.

The sadness came down to Luffy and Vivi and added to the condition of the latter losing her father at the Reverie incident. It might be the two will reunite sooner or later. This emotional reunion is something that people look forward to because Vivi has been considered nakama by the others.

6. Robin and Saul

At first, many people thought that this reunion won’t happen, remembering the unfortunate fate that fell upon Saul during the Ohara incident. He was frozen by Aokiji and many people thought that Saul was dead, but either luck or intended, Saul survives.

It is later revealed that Saul is alive and also the figure who saved Ohara's books and delivered them to Elbaf. Saul’s last words when forced Robin to sail, if someday she will have her place and her friends, because the ocean is vast, and their conversation is memorable.

7. Brook and Laboon

The friendship between a whale and Rumbar Pirates never fails to bring us tears. Laboon the smart whale always responds to the Rumbar Pirates’ music, and that’s when their friendship started.

At one point, the two must depart. Laboon and Rumbar Pirates made a promise to reunite someday. Unfortunately, Rumbar Pirates’ next adventure was their last. Starting to get contact with pestilence, and tough battles and one of them got killed by poison.

Those series of unfortunate events left only a man, Brook, as the sole survivor due to his devil fruit, making him the only representative of Rumbar Pirates to reunite with Laboon when the time comes. 

8. Shanks and Luffy

Shanks can be said to be a figure that will stay in Luffy’s heart. Shanks is the person who saved Luffy’s life after drowning in the sea. To save the boy, Shanks had to lose his arm.

Shanks’ departure while passing his straw hat to Luffy is one of the scenes that makes us cry. It shows that Shanks believes in Luffy’s dream to become Pirate King, and his words with Whitebeard are the reason for losing his arm. Shanks answered “A sacrifice for the new era”.
