The regular season of MPL ID Season 17 has finally entered its most brutal phase. Week 8 is no longer about building momentum or experimenting with drafts. Every team is now fighting purely for survival. One victory can open the road to playoffs, while one defeat can instantly drag a team into elimination territory.
This atmosphere is exactly why Week 8 has been called the “Bloody Week” by the Indonesian MLBB community. The competition in the middle of the standings has become absolute chaos because the point differences between teams are incredibly close. There is no room for mistakes, especially for teams still fighting for tickets to Jakarta International Velodrome.
Looking at the current standings, only one team can truly relax and breathe comfortably. On the other side, only one team has officially buried its playoff dreams. The rest? They are still battling each other desperately just to survive on the MPL Indonesia Season 17 stage.
What makes the situation even more exciting is the fact that the Week 8 schedule feels like a death trap. Many middle-table teams will directly face one another. That means almost every match will become a life-or-death battle capable of heavily affecting playoff qualification chances.
Even teams like ONIC Esports, who have already secured playoff qualification, still remain major factors in the standings race. They still have to face several struggling teams, meaning ONIC’s results could drastically reshape the playoff map.
Meanwhile, RRQ Hoshi, who have officially failed to qualify for playoffs, may actually become the biggest threat of all. Playing without pressure could transform RRQ into a dangerous “gatekeeper” capable of destroying other teams’ dreams during MPL ID S17 Week 8.
ONIC and DEWA Still Rule the League
- ONIC (10-2): 100% Playoff Chance | 99.58% Upper Bracket Chance
- DEWA United (8-4): 99.98% Playoff Chance | 74.39% Upper Bracket Chance
ONIC have officially secured their playoff ticket and are almost guaranteed to lock an upper bracket slot. However, Week 8 still remains extremely important because their remaining schedule is very difficult. The Sky Kings still have to face Dewa United Esports, Alter Ego, Bigetron Esports, and EVOS Esports.
That means ONIC could become the executioner for teams still fighting for playoff survival. If ONIC continue to perform seriously and consistently, they could destroy several teams’ playoff hopes within a single week.
On the other side, DEWA United have become one of the biggest surprises of the season. Their “dark horse” status now feels completely legitimate. Even after losing to Alter Ego in Week 7, DEWA’s playoff qualification chances have almost reached perfection.
Still, their target is not simply reaching playoffs. DEWA are also chasing an upper bracket position. That is why their matches against ONIC, EVOS, and Bigetron will become crucial in determining whether they can maintain a top-two finish until the end of the regular season.
EVOS, Alter Ego, and TLID Are Still Not Safe
- EVOS (7-6): 96.01% Playoff Chance
- Alter Ego (7-5): 90.25% Playoff Chance
- Team Liquid ID (7-6): 86.09% Playoff Chance
From the standings perspective, EVOS Esports, Alter Ego, and Team Liquid ID appear relatively safe. They are currently sitting inside the playoff zone, and their qualification percentages remain high. However, during MPL ID S17 Week 8, everything can change within a single day.
EVOS have an extremely dangerous schedule ahead. They still have to face Natus Vincere, DEWA United, and ONIC. The final two matches will become the ultimate test for Alberttt and his teammates.
Even so, EVOS still have a chance to steal an upper bracket position if they manage to pull off major upsets. The problem is that their remaining opponents have been the two most consistent teams throughout the regular season.
Alter Ego are slightly more advantaged because they still have one extra match compared to EVOS and TLID. However, that advantage also comes with danger. Their remaining schedule is extremely tricky since they still must face ONIC, Bigetron, Team Liquid ID, and RRQ.
The direct clash between Alter Ego and TLID is expected to become one of the hottest matches of MPL ID S17 Week 8. The result could completely reshape the standings and determine which team moves closer toward playoff qualification.
Geek Fam and Bigetron Enter Hell Zone
- Geek Fam (6-7): 62.33% Playoff Chance
- Bigetron by Vitality (6-6): 62.17% Playoff Chance
This is the true center of the “Bloody Week.” Geek Fam and Bigetron are entering Week 8 under enormous pressure.
Both teams possess nearly identical playoff odds, but they are also standing dangerously close to elimination. A single defeat could completely collapse their playoff hopes.
What makes the situation even more brutal is the fact that Week 8 will immediately open with Bigetron facing Geek Fam. This match already feels like an early final because the winner will preserve their playoff hopes, while the loser will likely fall into the red zone.
For Bigetron, the situation looks even scarier. They still have to face Geek Fam, Alter Ego, DEWA United, and ONIC consecutively. This schedule truly resembles a “schedule from hell” because every opponent is either fighting for playoffs or dominating the standings.
Geek Fam are slightly luckier from a scheduling perspective because they only have three remaining matches against Bigetron, TLID, and NAVI. However, they also cannot afford to lose any more points if they still want to remain inside the playoff race.
NAVI Need a Miracle, RRQ Become a Threat
- NAVI (4-9): 3.18% Playoff Chance
- RRQ Hoshi (1-11): 0% Playoff Chance
Mathematically, Natus Vincere still have a chance to qualify. Realistically, however, they need an enormous miracle to survive the playoff race in MPL ID S17.
NAVI must sweep all three remaining matches against EVOS, RRQ, and Geek Fam. Not only that, but they also need Bigetron and Geek Fam to lose several games throughout the remainder of the season.
The biggest problem is that Bigetron and Geek Fam will directly face each other during Week 8. That means one of them is guaranteed to secure another victory. This situation makes NAVI’s qualification chances even smaller.
Their only remaining hope may come through game win-loss difference. A similar scenario already happened last season when NAVI competed closely against RRQ for the final playoff slot.
Meanwhile, RRQ Hoshi have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. However, because they are now playing without pressure, they may actually become the most dangerous team in Week 8.
RRQ still have to face Team Liquid ID, NAVI, Alter Ego, and DEWA United. The Kings could easily destroy the hopes of one middle-table team and drag them directly into the red zone.
That is exactly what makes Week 8 feel so special. MPL ID S17 is no longer simply about which team is the strongest, but rather which team can survive under the most brutal pressure of the season. During the “Bloody Week,” one small mistake can instantly end the dream of reaching playoffs.
