Pon no Michi Is Getting Its Manga Spinoff!

Launched on Monday, January 8, 2024 via Kodansha's YanMaga website, the spinoff manga titled Pon no Michi: Ryukyoku Shanyu-hen (The Way of Pon: Ryukyoku Shanyu Arc) by Jun Endo and Pon no Michi Production Committee is now ready to expand the story of the popular mahjong anime Pon no Michi.
The manga The Way of Pon: Ryukyoku Shanyu Arc gives fans a deeper look into the lives of the adult characters involved in the mahjong game, exploring a new dimension of a world loved by many.
Tsukasa Unohana (Anima Yell!) has also launched a manga adaptation of the original anime in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine on September 1st 2023, and the manga book volume is scheduled to be published on January 12th 2024.
For your information, the anime version of Pon no Michi first aired on January 5th 2024 as part of the "Animeism" programming block on TBS, MBS, and BS-TBS.
The anime tells the story of Nashiko Jippensha, a high school student in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, who is kicked out of her home. With no place to play with her friends, Nashiko learns that the mahjong room her father used to run is now empty.
With her hard work, Nashiko repairs the place and makes it a place to have fun, cook, drink tea, and sometimes play mahjong with her friends.
Pon no Michi's original creator IIS-P is getting recognition for this interesting story. Tatsuma Minamikawa (Fire Force, Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry) directed and wrote the script for this anime at OLM. The original character designs by Negi Haruba (original creator of The Quintessential Quintuplets) were adapted into animated versions by Kenji Ota.
Meanwhile, the music accompanying this anime was composed by Yuko Takahashi, Takuma Sogi, hisakuni, Rico Ohashi, Kanji Eguchi, and Shari.
The opening theme song "Ponpopopon" is performed by former idol group Nogizaka46 member and professional mahjong player Kana Nakada feat. Pon no Michi All Stars, while the closing theme song "Good Luck Waker" is sung by halca. With the presence of this manga spinoff, it is guaranteed to be even more interesting for fans of mahjong and the Pon no Michi anime.
