Capcom has offered a deeper glimpse into its anticipated sci-fi action game PRAGMATA. Set in a near-future dystopia, the game blends emotional storytelling with cinematic action, focusing on an unlikely bond between a stranded man and an artificial lifeform.

The story unfolds after the discovery of Lunam Ore, a revolutionary mineral that allowed humanity to create Lunafilament, a substance capable of replicating nearly anything. But peace is shattered when Earth's communication with the moon’s research station home to Lunafilament studies abruptly ceases.

Players take on the role of Hugh Williams, part of a mission dispatched to investigate the silence. However, a sudden lunar quake leaves him injured and isolated from his crew. Just when hope seems lost, Hugh is rescued by a mysterious android named Pragmata, who appears in the form of a young girl. Moved by her actions, Hugh affectionately names her “Diana.”

Their journey isn’t just about survival it’s about learning to trust and work together in a hostile environment. The gameplay mechanics revolve around this synergy. Diana’s hacking abilities allow her to weaken enemy defenses, opening opportunities for Hugh to strike with his array of weapons.

Combat in PRAGMATA challenges players to think quickly, navigating a dynamic interface to manipulate enemies’ vulnerabilities. This adds a tactical layer to each encounter, setting it apart from conventional action games.

Exploration also requires collaboration. Diana can interface with the station’s systems to unlock doors and disable hazards, while Hugh utilizes his suit’s thrusters to traverse complex lunar terrain. Together, they can overcome obstacles neither could face alone.

Capcom has launched the official PRAGMATA website, featuring a playable hacking minigame that showcases the game’s signature combat mechanics. Scheduled for a 2026 release, PRAGMATA will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC via Steam, with demos appearing at Gamescom 2025 and other upcoming events.
