For those who didn’t know, Brando’s full name is Brando Franco Windah. He was born on March 14, 1992, the second child of four. He has an older sister named Florence and two younger siblings named Caroline and Vincent (who made an appearance on Windah Basudara’s gameplay of God of War).

When Brando was still in kindergarten, his family decided to move to Jakarta. In Jakarta, Brando spent his school years and graduated from high school.

Has Always Been A Gamer Since Childhood with Suikoden II As His Favorite Game

Brando has always been an avid gamer. The first console he got was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), which was first released in 1984.

When he started elementary school, Brando got a PlayStation 1 (PSX) and was really into Suikoden II, a game released by Konami in 1998. Up until now, Brando still plays this game which he often shows in live streams.

Got Bullied During Middle to High School Years

Despite his stocky and staunch stature now, Brando used to get bullied during his school years. According to him, it’s because he was a lanky kid, which made him an easy target for bullies.

The bullying started since he was still in middle school, and continued to his high school years. Due to how his peers treated him, Brando became a quiet kid and used to hate school.

Since he was constantly becoming a victim of bullying, Brando finally decided to quit high school and join Kak Seto’s homeschooling program.

Was Once An Internet Cafe Operator

When he decided to quit high school, Brando didn’t immediately join Kak Seto’s homeschooling program. During his break, he helped his father with his internet cafe business. As a result, Brando spent his days as the operator.

However, since his parents wanted him to get a high school diploma, he finally decided to start homeschooling.

Used to be a Waiter in Cafes and Restaurants After Quitting College

After graduating from high school, Brando actually had the opportunity to finish college. But unfortunately, when he’s in his final semester, he had to drop out due to financial issues.

Even though his mother was still able to pay his tuition, Brando still decided to drop out as he kept getting bad grades and needed a lot of money to take remedial classes.

Shortly after dropping out of college, Brando got a job as a waiter at a small cafe in Jakarta. During this time, Brando got a small salary, around IDR 900,000 per month. Brando only lasted for a month at this job.

After he quit, Brando had the opportunity to work at one of the most prestigious restaurants in Jakarta. At this job, he became more professional and honed his communication skills.

Worked at a Five-Star Hotel

After three months working at the prestigious restaurant, Brando received an offer to work at a 5-star hotel in Jakarta. He got this offer when the hotel officials visited the restaurant where he worked. And, Brando immediately accepted the offer and quit his job.

Unfortunately, Brando didn’t get to work right away. He had to wait for the hotel opening for three months. During this, Brando temporarily worked at another restaurant.

After the opening, Brando started his job at the hotel. At this new job, Brando was able to earn a good amount of salary, more than IDR 10,000,000. Brando met his now girlfriend, Agnes, at this job.

Decided to Become a YouTuber

Despite the good salary, Brando realized that he won’t be able to move up from being a waiter. With this in his mind, he eventually decided to resign and started his career as a YouTuber.

To start his career, Brando bought an ASUS ROG gaming laptop for IDR 13,000,000. However, since he wasn’t confident enough to make his own channel all by himself, Brando invited his two younger siblings, Caroline and Vincent, to create content together.

Yet, because Caroline and Vincent were still in school, Brando had to start his channel by himself, which he named Windah Basudara.

Windah Basudara, the name of the channel, originated from Brando’s surname “Windah”, whereas “Basudara” means ‘siblings' in the Manado language.

During his journey in developing the Windah Basudara channel, Brando faced several obstacles. One of which was when he got his 1-month-old ASUS ROG broken. Because of this, he had to send it for a service and waited for a week.

It was where Brando hit rock bottom. Besides having to develop his channel, he also needed to make a living. Since he still wasn’t making any money from YouTube, he continued to send applications to several hotels. But alas, Brando didn’t get any call from any hotel. As a result, he fell into depression.

Brando’s Mother’s Contribution to His Success

When he hit rock bottom, Brando vented his thoughts to his mother. Brando’s mother offered to lend him money to get a PC setup. Once he had a new PC, Brando got his fire back to create more gaming content, and finally gained 1,000 subscribers during the first four months in April 2019.

His consistency in developing his YouTube channel came to fruition in June 2019, where 100,000 people subscribed to Windah Basudara! He also got the chance to collaborate with MiawAug in the gameplay of Secret Neighbor and made an appearance at the 2019 YouTube FanFest.

In 2019, Windah Basudara secured a title as the ninth fastest-growing channel in Indonesia.

Windah Basudara’s Rise in 2020

In 2020, Windah Basudara enjoyed a meteoric rise. With his entertaining content, he managed to amass one million subscribers in June 2020.

Aside from making his audience laugh, he also made contributions with fundraises. One of his biggest contributions is when Brando decided to have a 24-hour live stream. Brando managed to raise IDR 50 million which he dedicated to COVID-19 relief.

Windah Basudara Continues to Entertain Indonesian Gamers

In 2021, Brando made a stunning achievement with his Dragon City live stream which accumulated 100k viewers on YouTube! This is obviously a remarkable achievement given that the game itself isn’t popular in Indonesia.

However, with Brando’s unique appeal, he managed to achieve such a milestone as he continues to entertain his audience in Indonesia.
