DG Esports’ CODM division has been enjoying a series of impressive performances since the start of the Major Series Season 2. The brilliant plays displayed by DG Esports were also thanks to the contributions from one of the players, who’s also known as the wonderboy of CODM, Andhika ‘Clove’ Syukur Sukmana Putra

The 16-year-old managed to lead DG Esports to become one of the most respected teams in the CODM esports scene. Now, if you want to find out more about this player, make sure to check out this brief profile of Clove, the CODM wonderboy.

Born in Banjar

Clove hails from Banjar and was born on March 21st, 2005, as the youngest of three children, with two older sisters. Ever since he’s in kindergarten, Clove has always been fond of playing video games, especially PC games.

Clove was first introduced to Flash games (which requires Adobe Flash Player) on browsers. When he’s in elementary school, Clove switched to competitive games -- even though he played casually at the time like any other kids his age.

Lost Saga and Point Blank Introduced Him to the Competitive Scene

As for the first competitive games he played, Clove said that they’re Lost Saga and Point Blank. Although he already had a PC at the time, Clove chose to play at internet cafes as he didn’t have Lost Saga nor Point Blank on his PC.

Clove’s love for competitive games began when he had to visit internet cafes on holidays or weekends at 6 AM to fight for a PC stall with other patrons. He also revealed his memories from visiting internet cafes, one of which was when he had to tilt the monitor when he’s playing 1v1 against his friends so that they wouldn’t be able to peek.

Got Introduced to Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile First

Before he got introduced to CODM, Clove used to play Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile. In fact, Clove has won several PUBG Mobile community tournaments.

However, since his smartphone was no longer able to run PUBG Mobile smoothly, he eventually abandoned the battle royale game and switched to CODM. Clove was just trying out the game but got attached to it due to the engaging gameplay and features.

In CODM, Clove eventually met other players who joined him to climb the ranks. Here, Clove met his future teammates who became parts of the DG Esports’ CODM division.

Had No Intention of Getting into the Esports Scene

Although he had made friends who joined him in ranked matches in CODM, Clove had no intention of getting into the pro scene as he was still in junior high at the time. Aside from that, the fact that he lives in Banjar used to make him brush off the idea of becoming a pro player.

Luckily, an offer from DG Esports, which allows players to not living in the GH, helped Clove in realizing his dream.

Was Asked by the School to Set Up an Esports After-School Club

His expertise in the esports scene made him asked by the school to set up an esports extracurricular activity. However, the plan is still in the development stage, so he can’t reveal much about it yet.

His other friends had already created an esports division, but not an after-school club. According to him, it’s just a student community.

DG Kurus as the Key Figure of Recruiting Clove to DG Esports

Glen Richard, better known as his moniker DG Kurus, is an important figure that brought Clove into the DG Esports’ CODM division. Before joining DG Esports, Clove and co. already had a team called Zota Esports. Seeing the great potential of Zota Esports, Kurus eventually offered Clove and his teammates to join DG Esports.

DG Kurus’ keen eyes for noticing young talents have been apparent with DG Esports CODM’s relentless performances, even though they’ve been competing without a coach as the strategist.

Grateful for the Supports the Fans Have Given Him

After all his efforts and hard work with Zen, Venom, Ehann, Jetsky, and Zeze, Clove is also grateful for the fans who have given their non-stop supports for DG Esports, which help them grow from obscurity to the top of the CODM scene.

Thank you so much for the support and the prays you’ve given DG Esports. (Which helped us grow) From obscurity to where we are now, Alhamdulillah, it’s thanks to the supports you’ve shown us,” Clove said at the end of the interview.
