EJ Gaming is a Pharmacy graduate student from Airlangga University in Surabaya. Graduating from college, EJ continued his career as a Pharmacist and was contracted for a year. But not even a year, EJ quit his job and chose to pursue his hobby of playing games until he finally uploaded his best gameplay to his YouTube channel.

He had thought carefully about this choice, he went as far as not giving any information to his parents that he already quit his job.

“My parents want me to get a job, it’s more secure. At that time, the only person who knew that I quit was my fiance, my brother didn’t know, my parents didn’t know. As time passed, I got tired of lying. Fortunately, my parents are very open-minded when I told them the truth.” he said in Q&A with Tek.id.

Started His Career as A Youtuber

Before moving to the game made by Tencent, Arena of Valor (AOV), EJ Gaming got to know about Mobile Legends first and brought his contents to YouTube. The reason why EJ Gaming uploaded contents about mobile games is because the equipment needed is very simple, it only needs internet and gadget.

Unfortunately, EJ's career on YouTube in uploading contents about Mobile Legends did not improve until finally he moved to another game, Arena of Valor. EJ's name in Arena of Valor was getting famous and even became the community role model if you want to see the build items and how to play the hero properly.

Together with Mikha, EJ tried to educate the Arena of Valor players in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the AOV community is not too friendly, making EJ slowly withdraw from the MOBA game and tries new game, PUBG Mobile.

EJ Gaming’s Rising Career in PUBG Mobile

Although his name is now big in the PUBG Mobile game, this game used to be just a small content with just a few viewers.

“Back then, uploading PUBG Mobile did not sell well. The first time I uploaded PUBG (on YouTube), there isn’t much viewers.” said EJ.

However, EJ’s choice to continue to present PUBG Mobile is the right choice. He is very observant in clarifying that this game has great potential.

EJ is also good at taking moments and training his skills only by relying on smartphone, even though at that time playing PUBG Mobile using iPad was very popular

Exactly at the PUBG Mobile Start Challenge 2018 in Dubai, EJ gaining his momentum because the pro players are using smartphones. In less than a month, EJ Gaming’s subscriber increase very rapidly, from 300 thousand to 500 thousand.

Even though he has gained his market, EJ admitted that it was still difficult to create content because there were still many who did not know that EJ could spend more than 13-14 hours just looking for exciting moments.

EJ Gaming’s Hard Work Behind the Scene

To make his content to be a role model, EJ is training hard. He needs 60 hours to master the right trick, one example is playing games using five fingers. For training itself, EJ can spend 10-12 hours a day (if he was hyped) which is certainly very difficult for most people.

Despite his success on YouTube, EJ admitted that YouTube could not be used as the only platform. In a Q&A session with Tek.id, he admitted that his career on YouTube would not last long.

Along with his success on YouTube channel, EJ finally married his girlfriend who has often appeared on his YouTube channel, Syriac in September 2019.
