Pheww MLBB's Trivia
1. Early Career at MPL Philippines, Qualified to International Competitions
Among the veteran players in MPL Philippines, Pheww is one of the names who accompanied the early growth of MPL PH. Pheww has been playing since MPL PH Season 1 with a team called Digital Devils Pro. Interestingly, Pheww was not a Mid player but a Gold Laner player. Despite this, he and Digital Devils Pro managed to finish as runners-up in MPL PH Season 1 and represent the Philippines in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2018.
Pheww's teammates at that time included names who are now coaches, such as ESON, Tets, and Bluffzy. Playing at MSC 2018, Pheww and his teammates performed brilliantly from the Group Stage. Even in the playoffs, playing in the semifinals, Pheww and his team defeated RRQ O2. Ultimately, Pheww and Digital Devils Pro finished second in MSC 2018, a truly impressive achievement early in his career.
2. Being MPL Champion, New Team, The Ups and Downs in His Career
In 2019, Pheww and his teammates officially joined the Cignal Ultra team. Entering MPL PH Season 2, they faced several strong competitors such as BREN Esports, Aether Main, and ArkAngel Ownage. Pheww and Cignal Ultra performed quite well in the Regular Season and up until the Playoffs. They were relegated to the Lower Bracket by BREN Esports. However, Cignal Ultra defeated Finesse Solid (KarlTzy's team) and advanced to the Grand Finals. Ultimately, Cignal Ultra avenged their defeat against BREN Esports and became champions with a 3-1 victory.
Cignal Ultra's victory in MPL PH Season 2 marked Pheww's first MPL championship. As champions of MPL PH Season 2, Pheww and his teammates then competed in the international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) competition, the "SEA Clash of Champions," better known as the SCoC. Unlike the previous MSC, Cignal Ultra failed to achieve a better performance. Pheww and his teammates finished in 3rd-4th place after falling to EVOS SG. In subsequent seasons, Pheww and Cignal Ultra did not shine as brightly.
3. A New Chapter with BREN Esports: Second MPL Title and Playing in the M2 World Championship
Ahead of MPL PH Season 5, Pheww then joined BREN Esports. Pheww's journey with Cignal Ultra ended. Here, he played alongside KarlTzy, a promising young player, and other well-known figures Lastii (Lusty) and "Doc" Ribo. Here, Pheww then played under the tutelage of Duckeyyy as coach. In his first season with BREN, Pheww didn't achieve instant success. BREN finished third in MPL PH Season 5.
Entering MPL PH Season 6, Moonton announced a qualifying path for teams to advance to the world-class MLBB competition, the M2 World Championship. BREN Esports performed as impressively as the previous season, unwavering from the Regular Season all the way to the playoffs. They defeated various teams such as Nexplay Solid and ONIC PH. In the Grand Final, BREN defeated Omega Esports to become the champions of MPL PH Season 6, marking Pheww's second MPL title.
As champions, BREN became one of the Philippines' representatives at the M2 World Championship. This wasn't Pheww's first time on the international stage. Indeed, BREN dominated the Group Stage and advanced to the Knockout Stage. However, BREN's path to the title wasn't easy. They were relegated to the Lower Bracket by Burmese Ghouls. However, it was there that Pheww and his teammates emerged victorious. BREN easily dispatched all opponents, including TODAK, Alter Ego, and RRQ Hoshi. Finally, they avenged their defeat against Burmese Ghouls by defeating them in the Grand Final with a score of 3-2. BREN Esports became the world champions of the M2 World Championship, marking Pheww's first world title.
4. M2 World Champion, Another Ups and Downs in Pheww's Career
Becoming the M2 world champion didn't mean Pheww and BREN Esports' career path was any easier. The following seasons were tough and bumpy. Pheww barely made it to the MPL Grand Finals from MPL PH Seasons 7-11. It could be said that this was a downturn in his career. Nevertheless, his journey with BREN continued, and slowly, Pheww began to feel the spark of a resurgence with BREN in 2023.
Although Pheww and BREN haven't fully recovered, they managed to secure a spot on the Philippine National Esports Team for MLBB (SIBOL). Pheww and his teammates successfully represented the Philippines (SIBOL) at the SEA Games and the IESF World Esports Championship 2023. Representing the Philippines, Pheww and his teammates emerged victorious and earned gold medals at both the SEA Games and the IESF World Esports Championship. Naturally, this major victory provided significant motivation for them to reclaim the MPL title.
5. Third MPL Title, World Champion of the M5 World Championship
A resurgence began to emerge from BREN Esports' camp in MPL PH Season 12. They competed fiercely with ECHO, the strongest team at the time. However, BREN proved themselves worthy of becoming MPL champions once again. Pheww and his teammates defeated various opponents, including RSG PH and Blacklist International. In the Grand Final, Pheww and his teammates once again stopped Blacklist International and claimed the MPL PH Season 12 title. This achievement marked Pheww's third MPL title, after Season 2, Season 6, and Season 12.
This victory also earned BREN (then known as AP BREN) the opportunity to represent the Philippines at the M5 World Championship in the Philippines. Playing as the home team, Pheww and his teammates dominated the Group Stage and advanced to the Knockout Stage. In the Knockout round, Pheww and his teammates defeated teams like See You Soon and Geek Fam ID, but were briefly defeated by ONIC in the Upper Bracket Final. AP BREN also managed to halt Blacklist International's advance and advance to the Grand Final.
Just like in M2, Pheww and his teammates once again exacted revenge on the team that relegated them to the Lower Bracket. ONIC lost the Grand Final 2-3, allowing AP BREN to win the M5 World Championship, marking Pheww's second MLBB world title in his professional playing career.
For the record, Pheww and his teammates were later acquired by Team Falcons from Saudi Arabia after previously collaborating under the name Falcons AP BREN. Since winning the M5 World Championship, Pheww's career has had to face yet another ups and downs. He won the Games of the Future 2024 competition, finished runner-up in MPL PH Season 13 with Falcons AP BREN, and advanced to the MSC 2024 Esports World Cup, finishing as runner-up after losing to Selangor Red Giants.
Phew's career isn't over yet, at least for now. However, he has finally decided to leave Team Falcons and begin a new chapter in his career. Where will he go? Rumors are circulating that the two-time MLBB world champion midlaner will be joining MPL Indonesia. Is that true? Let's wait and see where Pheww's career takes him this time.
