Every VTuber has its own characteristics that separate them from others. That includes Kobo Kanaeru, the VTuber who’s known for her iconic blue, wavy hair. As it turns out, she has her own reason for that look. During a session of DG CHEAT, Kobo revealed some secrets behind her looks as a VTuber. Today (27/07), Kobo Kanaeru made a guest star in Episode 40 of DG CHEAT. She revealed the secrets behind her looks, name, backstory, and her fandom.

"(The ideas) for my looks, and backstory, all of them were actually from manager-chan and me, we had a discussion about them. And mamih, too. I’m actually not that critical, I didn’t put much thought into it. And since my hair is wavy like the sea, I tried to find something that suits (my looks). I began to look for words that represent water. Like sewers, sea, and river, and then I chose kobokan (finger bowl). And I later found out that with Japanese pronunciation, it is pronounced kobokanaeru."

Kobo Kanaeru, or こぼ・かなえる in Japanese writing, sounds similar to 'kobokan air' (finger bowl). It was her own idea after discussing it with Hololive reps. Once she got approval, she has been using Kobo Kanaeru as her name. She also stated that her looks were also the result of discussions with m-san (the manager from the company) who supervises her.

As for the name for her fandom, Kobokerz, Kobo said that she took it from her one name. The name was once rejected, but she insisted on the name, and eventually, she has her own fandom, Kobokerz.

"Kobokers derived from my name, it’s just wordplay. I proposed it to m-chan, it was rejected but I insisted on the name. So, I made a tiny alteration by changing the ‘s’ in Kobokers to Kobokerz to make it a bit cool."

As for the fandom name Cebokerz, it began during one of her unofficial live streams. But since it got used around a lot, somehow it became an official nickname for her fans.

Aside from that, Kobo also shared the ups and downs as a VTuber. She admitted that she enjoys getting attention as she is the type of person who’s comfortable being the center of attention and receiving compliments. Kobo also revealed that she gets amused by the comments that the fans leave her and they give her the drive to keep on doing live streams. When it comes to the downsides of being a VTuber, Kobo mentioned that she often has mood swings, where she sometimes doesn’t have the mood to stream, yet she has to do it, which can ruin her performance.
