Celebrating the nation’s Independence day this month, the biggest esports event in the country, Free Fire Master League (FFML) Season IV and Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) 2021 Fall will start soon.

The competition, which is organized by Garena, the largest mobile game developer and publisher in Southeast Asia and its surroundings, is aimed at finding new esports talents to represent Indonesia.

With the concept of two divisions to accommodate both pro-player teams and semi-professional teams, many preparations are required to be made by all teams, one of which is the new semi-professional team from EVOS.

EVOS Immortal, the team that was just formed in 2021 is led by Dandy Noviar ("EVOS.LIZARD") and also consists of one of the famous players as well as a streamer, Rasyah Rasyid.

This 12-year-old kid from Makassar who dreamed of becoming a pilot will complete the semi-professional division team of EVOS that will compete in FFML Season IV Division 2. How’s the origin of the EVOS Immortal team and their preparation for FFML Season IV?

In an exclusive interview with Captain EVOS Immortal Dandy “EVOS.LIZARD” Noviar, Dandy explained the origin of EVOS Immortal,

“Initially, Bung Manay (Ex-Pro-Player and Trainer of EVOS Divine) was invited to look for other talented players and set a strategy for EVOS Immortal. I'm very happy, but at the same time, it feels so big to carry the EVOS name, especially since I am also appointed as captain by the squad.

(When I first become the captain) At first, I was nervous about practicing with them, especially when I met Rasyah (in) a team. But what is important for me is communication during the game because if there is a lack of communication, my focus will be broken throughout the game.” Danny explained.

In the same interview session, Rasyah Rasyid also explained that the inspiration to play Free Fire, which was come from his brother who is also a Survivor (the term for Free Fire players).

“The first time I heard about Free Fire was from my brother and was invited by my friend to play in offline competitions. At first, it was hard, so I kept learning with my brother about the strategy or playing with friends.

The community is also kind and supports me very much, from the beginning of my career in YouTube until I’m in an esports team. Parents and teachers also support and encourage me continuously, never forbid me to play as long as I stay at school and remember to pray.

When Bang Manay suddenly invited me (to enter EVOS) I was excited, especially when he was given the big responsibility to carry the EVOS name. The hope is to be getting along with the others better and bring the EVOS to new heights. My message to other Survivors, practice often and participate in tournaments held by Garena or the community, hopefully, your name will be known by others.”

Family’s Support on Having a Career in Esports

Mr. Rasyid as the father of Rasyah also accompanies Rasyah in the interview session. He also agrees with family support with three children for Rasyah's esports career, especially how Rasyah is still able to continue to excel at school.

“At first, I was worried, but over time, Rasyah is able to balance school and playing games, even at school he's able to excel in the top 10. His teacher never reprimands him, even very supportive because Rasyah always finished his task before playing.

I never thought my son could be famous by playing games. I saw a lot of support from Rasyah's fans on social media until some Rasyah's fans came to the house to express their support.

I am very proud. My message to other parents, give confidence and trust to your children to develop their career of choice as long as it doesn't interfere with their school, keep the balance between education and career, always remember to pray, and stay humble."

Mr. Rasyid also continues to give special attention so that Rasyah can maintain his education during his career in the esports field. Currently, Rasyah lives in Jakarta to take part in intensive training to face the upcoming FFML Season IV.

For this reason, Rasyah's family in Makassar facilitates Rasyah with homeschooling so that Rasyah can still attend school according to his current age.

Training Program for the Upcoming Tournaments

When asked about the strategy of the EVOS Immortal for the upcoming FFML Season IV, Rasyah, who also likes Bahasa Indonesia and Religion lessons, leaked some of the routines that Rasyah and EVOS Immortal did for training before the tournament.

“I’m currently attending homeschooling for three days a week, during the school spare time, I practice Free Fire on certain days. Discipline is very important, especially since I've brought the EVOS name. So far, there has been no difficulty getting up early, showering, having breakfast, training, praying, and I still have time to play badminton with my brothers.” said Rasyah.

Furthermore, Dandy added that the EVOS team's training schedule usually starts after the afternoon for several hours, both online and offline and gets more intensive as the tournament approaches. The training session is also followed by physical exercises to maintain fitness which is usually done in the afternoon, either running or swimming.

Carrying the name of EVOS, which was once the world champion of the Free Fire World Cup 2019 and has excelled in several global-level matches, is a challenge for the captain.

However, seeing the upcoming FFML Season IV, Dandy shared his optimism, “We learned from FFML Season III, we continue to watch and evaluate what has happened. We pay attention to how they (the other team in Division 2) play, how was the strategy from going down to drop zone, and the strategy against the enemy when they go down together.

For our strategy, we arrange several roles according to their respective skills, such as Rasyah as support. We are also preparing further strategies, both aggressive and defensive rhythms, curious right? Let's see in the upcoming show. For that, I hope that the EVOS Immortal team can get along well and maintain the EVOS name high, and hopefully can win FFML Season IV. Amen!” said Dandy and Rasyah together.
