Red Dead Redemption has become a major topic in the gaming industry after Rockstar Games announced that the legendary title will be available on Netflix, iOS, Android, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2 starting December 2. This announcement answers the anticipation of many players who have long awaited a refreshed version of Rockstar’s iconic Western game.
With Red Dead Redemption arriving on multiple modern platforms, players can now enjoy John Marston’s journey with greater flexibility, including through mobile devices. Rockstar ensures that the gameplay experience remains optimal thanks to numerous technical improvements and free upgrade options for owners of previous versions.
Red Dead Redemption Arrives on Netflix and Mobile Devices
Red Dead Redemption is finally launching on iOS and Android devices, complete with controls optimized for mobile play. For the first time, Netflix subscribers can also download and play the game as part of their subscription at no additional cost. This move makes Red Dead Redemption more accessible than ever, especially for players who want to follow Marston’s story anytime and anywhere.
This release includes the full Red Dead Redemption story as well as Undead Nightmare, along with all additional content from the Game of the Year Edition.
Enhancements for PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2
On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Red Dead Redemption receives several upgrades such as a 60 FPS frame rate, sharper image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 version takes advantage of the new hardware with DLSS, HDR, mouse support, and smooth 60 FPS gameplay at high resolution.
Rockstar ensures that all these versions deliver a more refined and modern gameplay experience without altering the original essence of the game.
Free Upgrades for Previous Owners
Players who already own Red Dead Redemption on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward-compatible version on Xbox One can upgrade to the latest version for free. PS4 owners can continue their progress using previous save data, while Nintendo Switch 2 players can also carry over their save data from the earlier Switch console.
The latest versions were developed in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, and will also be available through the GTA+ Games Library and PlayStation Plus Game Catalog starting December 2.
