10. Piano no Mori

Piano no Mori is an anime that tells the story of Shuuhei Amamiya who just moved into the countryside. Shuuhei’s father is an acclaimed pianist. Shuuhei also inherits his father’s talent and is determined to follow his step as a professional pianist.

One day, Shuuhei plays a strange piano in the forest and stumbles upon a kid named Kai Ichinose and befriends him. There’s a myth saying that the piano will make no sound when it’s played.

But when Kai starts playing, the piano actually produces a beautiful medley.

9. So Ra No Wo To

So Ra No Wo To follows a young girl named Kanata Sorami who joined the military after listening to a song played by a mysterious trumpeter. She’s assigned to guard the castle in the town of Seize while also learning to play the brass with other four girls

8. Kono Oto Tomare!

After all of his seniors graduated, Takezo Kurata is the only remaining member of the Koto club at Tokise High School. At the start of the school year, Takezo has to recruit new members to save the club from being disbanded. 

One day, Takezo drives out the thugs who are using the abandoned Koto club room. A new student Chika Kudou drives them away, saying that he’d like to join the club.

7. White Album 2

White Album 2 is an anime adaptation of the visual novel of the same title. It follows Kitahara Haruki, a member of the Hojou High music club with his other friends. 

When the school festival approaches, they try to find new members and recruit Ogiso Setsuna as the vocalist, and Touma Kazusa as the pianist. 

The anime also follows the romance between Haruki, Setsuna, and Kazusa in a complicated love triangle.

6. Sakamichi no Apollon

Sakamichi no Apollon tells the story of Kaoru who just got transferred from Yokosuka to Kyushu. One day, Kaoru runs into Sentarou and Ritsuko on the school roof. After the encounter, Kaoru meets Sentarou once again at the music shop and finds out that Sentarou plays the drums and in love with jazz music.

Soon, Sentarou and Ritsuko invite Kaoru to play music together to help Kaoru out of his boring mundane life.

5. Nodame Cantabile

Nodame Cantabile is a music anime series with a funny and engaging love story. It follows Megumi Noda, who refers to herself as Nodame, a highly talented pianist. She plays piano by ear instead of reading the musical scores.

Shinichi Chiaki, a student on the same campus as her who also has a high talent in music. Chiaki runs into Nodame. Thanks to Chiaki, Nodame gets the opportunity to take part in a piano competition and starts to have a greater appreciation for music.

4. Carole & Tuesday

50 years since mankind began its migration to Mars, a girl named Carole lives in Alba City. She lives by herself and works part-time to make a living. Carole aspires to become a musician, yet she feels like something is missing from her life.

One day, she meets Tuesday, a girl who comes from a wealthy family in Herschel City who also wants to become a musician, and they begin to start their journey together.

3. K-On!

K-On! tells the story of 4 students -- Yui, Mio, Ritsu, and Tsumugi who are members of the pop music club. They spend time practicing, doing shows, or just jamming.

2. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso revolves around Kousei Arima, a young talented pianist who’s unable to play the piano due to a trauma he experienced. Then he meets Kaori Miyazono, a violinist. Thanks to Kaori, Kousei gradually starts to overcome his trauma and returns to playing his piano.

1. Hibike! Euphonium

Hibike! Euphonium tells the story of Oumae Kumiko, who had an incident at the middle school concert band competition, which made her quit playing music. As she starts high school, Kumiko decides to join the music club after being persuaded by Katou Hazuki and Kawashima Sapphire. 

The memory of the incident during her middle school days reappears when Kumiko meets Kousaka Reina, her friend from middle school who also joins the club.

But that’s not all, it turns out that the music club is terrible. Will Kumiko be able to survive after just starting to play music again?
