Resident Evil Requiem Ending Explained
As mentioned previously, in this article, we will discuss the ending of Resident Evil Requiem, a point you may not yet understand. Disclaimer (SPOILER ALERT): If you haven't finished the game, please complete it first. If you have finished the game but don't understand the explanation of the ending scene and post-ending scene in Resident Evil Requiem, you may still be wondering what they mean.
Also, please disclaim that the explanation is solely the work of the Dunia Games (DG) editorial team. Therefore, any differing interpretations from individual players are perfectly acceptable, as everyone can have their own understanding of the ending of Resident Evil Requiem.
1. Resident Evil Requiem Ending Scene - Good Ending
The ending scene of Resident Evil Requiem shows Grace and Leon reuniting with Zeno, who appears to have remained unmoved. Grace agrees to Zeno's request to open Elpis on the condition that Zeno spare Leon's life. Grace then entered the keyword "hope" and administered several doses of an antiviral vial to reverse or eliminate the mutational effects of various viruses, particularly the T-Virus. Zeno kept his promise to spare Leon and Grace's life, then injected the antiviral into himself, causing him to lose his powers.
The conflict escalated when Victor Gideon appeared, and Victor killed Zeno by beheading him. Leon, gradually recovering after being injected with Elpis, finally faced Victor Gideon in one final battle. After Leon defeated Victor (with his Final Mutation), the ARK facility was seemingly destroyed, along with Elpis. Ultimately, Leon and Grace were rescued by a mysterious figure who appeared as a rescue team. (For your information, this is part of the "Good Ending" scene in RE Requiem.)
2. Resident Evil Requiem Ending Scene - Bad Ending
The ending scene of Resident Evil Requiem shows Grace and Leon reuniting with Zeno, who appears to have remained unmoved. Grace agreed to comply with Zeno's request to open Elpis on the condition that Zeno spare Leon's life. Grace then entered the keyword "Destruction," and Elpis was destroyed, along with the ARK facility. Zeno, realizing that Grace's actions were not what he had hoped, attempted to finish her off.
However, Leon managed to repel Zeno's attack and rescue her to the bridge connecting Elpis. "Go, I'll protect you," Leon told Grace. Grace noticed that Leon didn't seem to be saving her and chose to die alongside Zeno as the pillars supporting Elpis began to collapse. Leon finally fought Zeno in their final battle (in the "Bad Ending," Victor Gideon was shown dead during the motorcycle chase scene in Raccoon City).
Zeno ultimately defeated Leon. In his final moments, Leon declared that at least he had relieved his guilt by saving Grace. "At least I managed to save you (Grace)," Leon said before being executed by Zeno and then they died together falling into the ruins of Elpis. Rolando Elba arrived with his troops and found Grace alone. In the end, Grace appeared to regret Leon's death. (For your information, this is part of the "Bad Ending" scene in RE Requiem.)
3. Explanation of Post-Credit Scene 1 - Leon and Grace's Rescue
Despite initial pessimism that there was no way out of the collapsed ARK, Leon and Grace were rescued by a group of elite troops, led by Rolando Elba, also known as Umber Eyes. "Leon S. Kennedy?" said Umber Eyes. "Depends on who's asking?" Leon replied. "Alpha, did you hear me? Yes, they're safe. I've got them," Umber Eyes said over the radio.
Umber Eyes then stated that he was carrying a message from Chris Redfield, Leon's colleague. This suggests that it was Chris Redfield's Hound Wolf Squad who rescued Leon.
4. Explanation of Post-Credit Scene 2 - Where's Chris Redfield?
After Leon and Grace were successfully evacuated by the HWS team led by Rolando Elba, Leon communicated again with Sherry Birkin. There, he stated that he had initially doubted that an "Antivirus" had successfully cured him. "I'll be damned. Can't believe that antiviral actually worked. I feel better than I have in ages," Leon told Sherry. "Thank God, I'm glad you're OK," Sherry said.
Leon then explained that he had prepared a dose for Sherry. "I've got a dose with your name on it. You'll be back in action in no time," Leon added. Sherry Birkin thanked him, and Leon stated that this entire process would have been better if Chris Redfield had helped. "Would have been a lot smoother if Chris hadn't been so late to the party," Leon said. Sherry wondered where Chris Redfield was. "Where is Chris anyway?" Sherry asked. Leon simply replied that he didn't know for sure.
5. Emily's Destiny
Next, Leon spoke with Grace again about Emily's final state. Leon explained that he hadn't shot Emily's "vital" part when she mutated. "I wish we could've saved Emily," Grace told Leon. "Grace, I didn't hit any of her vitals. She could be still alive," Leon told her. Leon then confirmed that they could still save Emily. A news clip also showed that a young girl was rescued by the police at Rhodes Hill Care Center.
It appears that Emily has reverted to her original form after the mutation. This demutation process was likely caused by Elpis. Finally, the cutscene shifts back to Grace's normal life as an FBI agent. When Nathan Dempsey asks her to submit a report, photos of Grace with her mother are shown, along with a photo of Grace with a healthy Emily.
6. New Conflict With "The Connections" - A Key RE10 Clue?
Finally, the second post-credits scene shows the ruins of the ARK facility where Leon and Grace were evacuated by Hound Wolf Squad. The next scene shows one BSAA agent being killed and two elite troops (like the ones who tried to eliminate Leon earlier) appearing. "Remaining BSAA forces have been neutralized," said the mysterious soldier. "Retrieving the objective before they send in the Wolves," said another soldier.
