Resident Evil: Survival Unit is the latest title in the Resident Evil franchise, officially announced by Capcom as a mobile game for iOS and Android platforms. This announcement marks Capcom’s effort to expand its iconic franchise into the ever-growing mobile gaming market.

Resident Evil: Survival Unit for Mobile Platforms

In its official statement, Capcom revealed that Resident Evil: Survival Unit is being co-developed with Aniplex Inc. and South Korean developer Joycity. Joycity is known for its strategy game Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War and is currently also working on Disney Realm Breakers, which features characters from various Disney IPs.

Although detailed information is still limited, Capcom has scheduled a full reveal of the game at a showcase event on July 10 at 6:00 p.m. ET, or July 11 at 5:00 a.m. WIB. According to Capcom, the game will offer “a new approach different from previous entries” while maintaining the authenticity and quality expected from the Resident Evil franchise.

Given Joycity’s strong background in the strategy genre, it is likely that Survival Unit will adopt similar gameplay mechanics. The combination of strategy elements and the dark narrative style of Resident Evil could be an appealing mix for the mobile gaming audience.

This move also signals Capcom’s serious intent to broaden the Resident Evil fanbase—traditionally tied to console and PC games—into the mobile sphere. The game is expected to deliver a fresh experience while staying true to the Resident Evil universe.

Meanwhile, Capcom previously announced Resident Evil Requiem, the official title for Resident Evil 9, scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. That game will introduce a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and—for the first time in the franchise—allow players to choose between first-person or third-person perspective from the start.

With the launch of Resident Evil: Survival Unit, Capcom appears to be building major momentum toward a cross-platform expansion, blending nostalgia, innovation, and smart business strategy into one promising package.
