ASUS AI Noise-Canceling Mic Adapter is a small device used to cancel background noise when you are communicating via phone calls or playing games.

It’s small so you can carry it all the time and plug it into your gadget when you need to. FYI, the dongle connects USB Type C to 3.5mm audio jack.

You can plug this device into your gadgets that got a USB Type C port such as your smartphone or laptop then plugs your earphone or headphone to the Noise-canceling Adaptor. The AI Noise Canceling will activate automatically when you plug in your earphone or headphone.

The writer uses this dongle with a standard earphone and ASUS ROG PHONE 3. The voice quality is better than using the default adapter from ASUS ROG PHONE 3.

The noise is clearer and sharper because ASUS AI Noise Canceling Mic Adaptor got a Signal to Noise Ratio of 95dB and supports amplifier up to 150 ohms. When used for communicating via WhatsApp the person you are speaking with sounds clearer and the reverse.

The result is the same when tested on a laptop. There’s a driver that you can download via ASUS’ website. Make sure that your laptop got a USB Typer-C port. If not, then you can buy USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter to connect the device to your laptop or PC.

When plugged into a laptop, the AI Noise Canceling Mic Adapter is not immediately recognized. You need to plug in your earphone or headphone to the dongle for it to be recognized and then the driver will appear in the device manage like in the image below.

In the ASUS AI Noice Canceling Mic Adaptor app. You can see three menus, switch ON and OFF to turn on and turn off the noise-canceling function. There a menu for the mic position, most gaming headphone uses the top setting, Boom Microphone, but because the writer uses a standard in-ear earphone with a built-in microphone the writer uses the set-up menu number 2.

Verdict

After trying it for more than a week, most of the time, the writer uses this dongle for a virtual meeting with Zoom, Google Meet, and many more. The device can run on the apps mentioned without compatibility and other issues. You only need to configure the device via audio input and output via the apps. The writer thinks that the app is really helpful, especially during this lockdown where we mostly work remotely.

With this dongle, communicating via Zoom or Google Meet is clearer. The dongle cancels out all background noise such as rain, pet, vehicle, and many more.

Besides the virtual meeting, ASUS AI Noise Canceling Mic Adaptor is a great device for YouTubers. Usually they use a voice-over mic + condenser combo that is expensive. The dongle can cover that as it can produce a clear noise and more affordable.

For gamers, the dongle is great for making communication with your team. Voice chat via Discord or in-game is better with this device.
