Game Review | 20 May
Recently, some PlayStation exclusive games are getting their PC releases, one of which is Days Gone. Days Gone is an action open-world game set in the wasteland of the Pacific Northwest, two years after the start of a mysterious pandemic that killed most of the population, turning millions into mindless creatures.
The survivors live in a world where resources are scarce, where violence and murder are the norms, with Freakers roaming around.
The player is put in a new world full of violence as Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter, and drifter who lives in the woods. Deacon survives using the skills he learned before the world ends, rides with the Mongrels MC, an outlaw motorcycle club, where chaos and violence are just some parts of the lives of the members.
Days Gone explores how does one reacts in a harsh condition and revolves around love, friendship, revenge, and despair.
The PC version of Days Gone features a high frame rate, improved graphics quality, supports ultra-wide monitor, mouse & keyboard, non-DualShock controllers, with all post-release content from the PS4 version.
So, how good is Days Gone PC? Without further ado, let’s take a look!
Emotional Storyline
It’s no secret that Days Gone features a deeply emotional story, and is well delivered. From the start of the game, you will see Deacon St. John, or Deak for short, and his best friend Boozer, trying to save Sarah, Deacon’s wife.
Their only hope to survive is by boarding NERO’s helicopter, along with other people. Alas, the helicopter reached its full capacity, which prompts Sarah to be the only one between them to board, while Deacon and Boozer have to stay.
Deacon and Boozer visit the refugee camp to look for Sarah. However, the place is now full of Freakers and dead bodies. Deacon and Boozer kill all of the Freakers, but unfortunately, they aren’t able to find Sarah.
Fast forward two years after the first outbreak, Deacon and Boozer continue to focus on surviving, moving from one place to another, meeting other people throughout the journey.
Throughout the gameplay, the player will find their emotion being played by the plot. Friendship and betrayal are probably the words to describe Days Gone.
There are moments where I get upset about one of the characters, and there are moments that I feel touched by the story. The emotional story is one of the best strengths that Days Gone has.
A Perfectly Packaged Open-World Game
At first, I got the impression that the open-world concept Days Gone has was going to be similar to other open-world games. But it turned out that I was wrong, there are so many other additional aspects that make the open-world concept in Days Gone perfect.
From the stunning sceneries, varied areas, weather changes, and explorations. And, for those who want to capture the moment with stunning views, you can use the Photo Mode feature.
The Camp system gives life to Days Gone since the system isn’t just a way to rest and take shelter from the Freakers, but you can also interact, using the various services of survivors, and make contributions for the Camp.
You can contribute by completing various missions or even bounty hunting, which will give you rewards.
With so many things you can do in Days Gone, I hardly get bored as the game doesn’t feel repetitive. Therefore, I can say that the open-world concept in Days Gone is done perfectly.

Seamlessly Ported to PC
Now that we have covered both the storyline and gameplay, Dunia Games would like to review how well Days Gone has been adapted to PC.
Usually, console exclusive games tend to have issues when they’re released on PC from bugs to game-crashing lags.
Fortunately, it’s not the case for Days Gone as it has seamlessly adapted to PC. But that’s not all, because it’s also quite a lenient game as I was able to get 60 FPS without any lag even though I was playing at high graphics quality.
Here are the specs that I used: Ryzen 5 3500X, RX 570, 16 GB of RAM and I’m able to run it at high graphics settings.
Lacks of Memorable Moments
Of the many good things I’ve mentioned before, surely there are still some things that Days Gone lacks. In my opinion, almost all of the moments from the beginning until the mid-game feel dull although some of them do a great job in draining our emotions. However, I couldn’t find any moment that ends rather anti-climatic.
Verdict
As mentioned above, this game was ported really well on PC. I didn’t experience any bug or lag during the gameplay. Days Gone is a highly recommended game for those who love open-world games as you can get a different experience with this game.
The storyline complements all the other aspects in Days Gone really well. In my opinion, this game is worth buying, even at full price.
