Verdict
Pemandi Jenazah is the first horror film from Hadrah Daeng Ratu with writer Lele Laila. As the first horror film directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu, this film is enough to provide extraordinary tension, especially when the film is halfway through its runtime. Apart from that, the horror scenes shown can also give the audience an atmosphere of anxiety. In addition, the performances of each performer in this film are quite extraordinary, especially Aghniny Haque as the main character who can give an accurate picture of a young woman who is haunted by guilt and burden. Then, the supporting cast also managed to give their best performances. As the movie goes on, their characters slowly develop.
One of the standout elements of Pemandi Jenazah is its tempo. The tempo given can shock the audience. Even though this film is the director's first horror film, this film quite meets the expectations of horror film fans. Some of the tense scenes are shown well with an atmosphere that can surprise the audience even though some of the jumpscares are easy to predict.
In the end, Pemandi Jenazah is a horror film that can provide sufficient expectations for horror film fans in Indonesia. The tense atmosphere and fear can keep the audience unease throughout the duration. Broadly speaking, this film talks about themes like death, the afterlife, guilt, and supernatural things. This film also asks the audience questions about the mystery of death before humans bid farewell to the realm of the living. If you like horror films that are imbued with supernatural issues in society, this film is worth watching.
