Games | 30 November
Many gamers spend their time in front of a PC or console playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As the best RPG game at that time, it's not surprising that Skyrim has become very popular, in fact there are still many gamers who play it until now. Celebrating Skyrim’s 10th birthday, Bethesda has released an Anniversary Edition version that brings a number of updates and elements of nostalgia.
This time the authors have the opportunity to review TThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition by Bethesda. After playing it for two weeks on a PC, here are the author's reviews that might help you choose to buy this game or not. Let's see the following review.
Not Much is Changed
Playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is like going back in time 10 years ago. At that time, the author played this game on a PS3 and PC. The author had spent a lot of time at that time playing this game, even when playing it on a PC, the author even tried various mods provided by modders.
So basically the author does not notice many changes in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition. Other than the graphics that feels better than the classic version. Even when compared to the Special Edition which was released in 2016, this Anniversary Edition version has really not changed.
Before releasing, Bethesda had time to share information about the four creations that gamers can enjoy in this Anniversary Edition version. Among them; Saints and Seducers, Rare Curios, Fishing, and Survival Mode. These four creations do provide a different playing experience compared to the classic version.
In the Fishing creation, the author can enjoy fishing in the waters in the game. Interestingly, Bethesda also presents 20 species of fish that can be caught. Even these fish species can not only be cooked, but also can be displayed or stored in an aquarium that you can customize to your heart's content.
In addition, the author is also greatly helped by the Khajiit Caravans feature, because the caravan can send goods throughout the Tamriel mainland without needing the player to travel. Even the Khajiit merchant in the Anniversary Edition version also provides all the items needed to make new potions, arrows, poisons, and even rare stones made by aliens!
Next is the Survival Mode creation. In this mode, the author can enjoy the challenge of playing a more exciting game, because the author must survive in the wild Tamriel. In this mode, players will do various things to survive, such as looking for food, cooking, fishing, and even stealing.

Graphics Update That is Not Too Noticeable
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition also gets a slightly better graphic quality overhaul compared to the Special Edition version. Bethesda has added volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections, and much more. Although the additional graphic features are indeed good, it seems that you can maximize the quality of the game in this section just by installing a few mods.
Currently, there are tons of mods that improve the graphics quality in Skyrim for the PC version. Of course, this mod cannot be implemented on the console version. But if you've used the mods, then it doesn't look like there will be many changes made to the Anniversary Edition.
Lack of New Missions
In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition there are also several new side missions that you can take on, including; Ghost of the Tribunal, in this mission players will be able to get a set of armor and iconic weapons from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind if you successfully complete it. Unfortunately, there are not many additional missions that you can enjoy in the Anniversary Edition.
Still Support Mods
Like the classic version or the Special Edition, the Anniversary Edition also supports thousands of mods that you can install. Bethesda itself also supports the mod community to provide an official platform for them to promote mods directly in-game through a special menu, therefore doing your own mod search is a much more exciting experience than just relying on the Creation Club.
Verdict
If you are a veteran player like the writer, then it seems like there are not many changes in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition. It still feels the same as 10 years ago even though there are some additions that can be considered mere "gimmicks". The release of the Anniversary Edition version seems to be done by Bethesda because they want to show that the Skyrim franchise is still the best RPG game even though it is 10 years old.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is perfect for new players who want to try to go on an adventure in Tamriel and become a Dragonborn. Not stopping there, new players can also enjoy the thousands of mods offered by the community and apply them to the game. Of course, this adds to the immersion after you complete the missions and storyline.
Well, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition itself is priced at around IDR 409,999 on Steam. However, if you have The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, you can upgrade it to the Anniversary Edition version by spending IDR 266,000.
So, is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition worth owning, the answer is yes, but it depends on your perspective. Are you a new player or a veteran?
