RRQ Idok, or Said “Idok” Ridho, the trusted roamer of RRQ Hoshi, stirred up controversy during MPL Indonesia Season 15 with his middle-parted hairstyle. The haircut sparked mixed reactions among netizens, to the point where RRQ CEO, Pak AP, requested a reshoot of Idok’s photos with a more neutral styling.

Before opting for the middle part, Idok had sported a variety of distinct hairstyles, each with its own signature look. This article dives into his controversial middle-part haircut and revisits some of his previous styles.

The Controversial Hairstyle: Middle Part

Idok’s hairstyle featured a symmetrical middle part, creating a blunt fringe at the front. The sides were trimmed shorter using a burst fade or a subtle undercut technique. This style is essentially a modern take on the “curtained hair” trend from the 1990s, where bangs were parted in the middle and styled neatly to the sides.

Many netizens mocked Idok’s appearance when he sported this look. In response to the backlash, Pak AP requested MPL Indonesia to facilitate a reshoot so Idok could appear with a more professional and tournament-appropriate hairstyle.

Idok’s Previous Hairstyles

Before rocking the controversial middle part, RRQ Idok had tried several different haircuts.

1. French Crop

This haircut, commonly referred to as the "French crop" or "textured crop," is characterized by straight-cut bangs covering part of the forehead. The top is textured with subtle layers to create a slightly messy, lightweight volume.

The sides and back are cut short, usually with clippers but without a dramatic fade, allowing for a smooth transition to the top. This hairstyle is popular due to its low maintenance, modern appeal, and suitability for oval or square face shapes.

2. Buzz Cut

On several occasions, Idok went with a buzz cut — where the entire head is trimmed evenly using clippers. The buzz cut is known for its practicality, requiring no styling and only needing a touch-up every 1–2 weeks.

3. Curtain Haircut

Also known in Indonesia as the "belah tengah," the curtain haircut features a clean middle part, with bangs split in two to partially cover the forehead. The length of the top and sides is relatively even, avoiding the sharp contrast of an undercut. Light layering at the ends adds softness and a natural fall to the hair.

This style is inspired by the 1990s and has made a comeback, especially among young people and K-pop celebrities.

In a tournament that embraces entertainment value, a player’s hairstyle and overall appearance can easily become a talking point. So, which of RRQ Idok’s hairstyles do you think looks the coolest?
