RRQ’s efforts to secure a spot in the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 for the fighting game category have finally paid off—this time through Tekken 8.

It was none other than the veteran player JDCR, newly signed by RRQ earlier this year, who earned the ticket to the Tekken 8 tournament at EWC 2025. JDCR qualified after finishing in the Top 6 at The Mixup 2025 tournament held in France.

Since early 2025, the South Korean pro had openly stated his struggles adapting to the gameplay changes in the latest installment of the Tekken franchise. However, he has shown steady improvement in several recent tournaments, with The Mixup 2025 marking a major breakthrough.

JDCR’s Road at The Mixup 2025

JDCR’s journey was far from easy. He entered the Top 8 via the lower bracket after losing to Spain’s Tibetano. In his first Top 8 match, he managed a narrow 2-1 victory over Tekken Master from Bahrain.

In the next round, he faced fellow Korean LowHigh. Unfortunately, JDCR fell 0-2 in a clean sweep, ending his run in Top 6.

Although he didn’t claim the championship title, his placement was enough to secure him a slot at the upcoming Tekken 8 Esports World Cup 2025. While not a perfect finish, the result is seen as a potential turning point for JDCR to rise again on the global Tekken 8 esports stage.

RRQ JDCR Joins ONIC Esports in EWC 2025 Fighting Game Division

JDCR’s qualification adds to RRQ’s growing list of divisions making it to this year’s Esports World Cup. RRQ’s MLBB, Free Fire, and Valorant teams have already secured their respective slots in previous qualifiers.

JDCR now joins the ranks of ONIC Esports, another Indonesian organization sending representatives to the Fighting Games division. ONIC’s qualified players include:

• NARIKUN (Street Fighter 6)

• NYChrisG (Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves)
