Toei Animation has just presented the latest teaser trailer and key visuals for the next installment of Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya, a CG anime remake of Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac) manga, at the opening ceremony of Tamashii Nation 2023 last Thursday, November 16th 2023. The teaser revealed that the new season will be released globally in 2024 and is titled Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac - Battle for Sanctuary - Part 2.

Crunchyroll will be the official broadcasting platform for the season in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Middle East, and CIS. Crunchyroll provided an overview of the season's story:

Time is ticking! Only five hours remain before the god-killing arrow embedded in Athena's chest will claim the goddess' life. The mighty Grand Master is the only hope to save her life, but to reach the Grand Master's chamber, Seiya and the Bronze Knights must conquer the Sanctuary and pass through the Twelve Temples, each temple guarded by a Golden Knight. However, not everyone will successfully complete this journey and reach the top of Sanctuary where a shocking surprise awaits.

The first part of the first season was first released worldwide via Netflix in July 2019. Meanwhile, the second part premiered in January 2020, forming a total of 12 episodes in the first season. Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac - Battle for Sanctuary, as the second season, has made its airing debut on Crunchyroll on July 31st 2023 and also consists of 12 episodes.

Yoshiharu Ashino (Tweeny Witches, CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon) directed both series at Toei Animation studio. Eugene Son (Duel Masters, B-Legend! Battle Bedaman screenwriter) acted as the story editor and main writer.

Terumi Nishii (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Penguindrum) designed the characters, while Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai manga creator, Summer Wars character designer) was responsible for the armor design in this anime.
