Week 9 of MPL Indonesia Season 16 (MPL ID S16) marks the final week of the Regular Season and the deciding factor in which of the final two teams will advance to the playoffs. Currently, four teams have advanced to the MPL ID S16 playoffs: ONIC, Bigetron by Vitality, EVOS, and Alter Ego Esports. Two teams have also been eliminated, with Geek Fam and Team Liquid ID failing to advance to this season's playoffs.

With only three teams remaining, with two spots available, who will make it? Will it be RRQ Hoshi? Natus Vincere? Or DEWA United? No one knows. Indeed, RRQ's chances of not qualifying for the playoffs have been widely discussed recently. Various scenarios have emerged, whether RRQ will fail to qualify, or NAVI or DEWA United Esports will ultimately be the last team to end their journey.

ONIC Wins Against DEWA United, SANZ Says RRQ Won't Qualify for Playoffs

In Week 9 of MPL ID Season 16, every match played by ONIC, RRQ Hoshi, and Natus Vincere will determine which team will be the third to end their run in the Regular Season and become the final two to advance to the upcoming Playoffs. RRQ's chances of failing to qualify for the playoffs are still open, as the King has yet to play a match.

However, DEWA United and NAVI also still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs, provided both teams win their remaining matches. Similarly, DEWA United Esports played against ONIC on Friday, October 17, 2025. Unfortunately, ONIC won 2-0, making DEWA United's progress appear even more difficult.

RRQ's chances of failing to qualify for the playoffs have begun to diminish with DEWA's loss to ONIC. However, in a post-match interview with ONIC, ONIC Midlaner Gilang "S A N Z" told host Clara Mongstar that he preferred DEWA United and Natus Vincere to advance to the playoffs. "Of course, I choose Navi and DEWA. I still choose NAVI and DEWA," SANZ said.
