In the Dressrosa arc, we were introduced to many new characters fighting at the Corrida Colosseum. Two of them are Jet and Abdullah, who is now part of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. These two fighters were inspired by real-life wrestlers. Who are they?

In the SBS One Piece column volume 72, a fan asked Oda about the inspiration for Jeet and Abdullah. He could have guessed that their names were taken from former professional wrestlers, Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh. The fan with the pen name Joker wanted to confirm this to Oda.

Oda answered that his guess was correct. Jeet and Abdullah were wrestlers who triumphed back when Oda was still in elementary school. The existence of characters like Jeet and Abdullah in One Piece is a tribute to the two former professional wrestlers.
