All One Piece Fan Tempted to Buy These Sneakers
As one of the most popular animes, numerous sneaker brands are competing to work with One Piece
Anime & Manga | 31 October
The collaboration between a famous fashion brand and anime becomes a trend lately. After Uniqlo releases several t-shirts themed with animes from Shonen Jump and Pokemon, several months ago, an actor that played in Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan, partners with Coach, to release Naruto themed clothing. Then what about one of the world’s most famous animes, One Piece?
Not missing on the chance, One Piece partners with a shoe brand, Skechers, and will release the sneaker collection on November 3rd. The Skechers D’Lite 3 is released with color variants inspired by One Piece characters such as Monkey D. Luffy, Trafalgar Law, Boa Hancock, Blackbeard, and Portgas D. Ace.
This is how the shoes look:
Unfortunately, the sneaker is planned to be released in the Philippines for 4.890 Philippine Peso. If you are interested in One Piece themed sneaker, then the are other brands that are collaborating with One Piece.
After announcing their partnership with Skechers to release sneakers in the Philippines, in early October, One Piece also announces their collaboration with a famous sports brand, Puma, to release One Piece themed sneaker in Japan. Different from their partnership with Skechers that only changes the colors variant on an existing sneaker model, the collaboration between Puma and One Piece will bring an entirely new and unique sneaker model.
This can be seen from the shoes that come in silver and gold, inspired by the treasures in One Piece. Even the shoes have gold chains and a key to symbolize One Piece being sought after the pirates.
There’s also another pair of sneakers that are inspired by the ship of the Straw Hat crew, Thousand Sunny. To make the Thousand Sunny themed sneaker more felt, Puma gave the sneaker a brown lace to mimic the ship’s halyard. The Thousand Sunny logo is embossed to the side of the shoe.
Both of the shoes came with a One Piece themed box. To own the shoes that are only sold in Japan, you need to spend at least 19.800 Yen per pair or at least Rp2,5 million.
Do you still want to own a One Piece themed sneaker, but you don’t want to spend that much money? It’s still possible, but it requires you to be creative since you have to customize your own shoes.
At least that’s what a Reddit user, CoolSTO66, do. With the user’s creativity, the person managed to transform a Nike Air Jordan 1 into a sneaker inspired by Roronoa Zoro from One Piece. The Reddit user also successfully changes Nike’s Swoosh logo into Zoro’s sword, complete with a 3D effect.
The sneaker by CoolST066 successfully gathers the attention of other Reddit users that are willing to spend their money to buy the sneaker. Since the interest in the shoes is high, CoolSTO66 is planning to customize another Nike Air Jordan themed with Monkey D. Luffy, Trafalgar Law, and juga Tony Tony Chopper.
Which one is your favorite sneaker?
