Recently, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku, who is working on the Yakuza game series, has announced that in the future, the Yakuza game series will retain the turn-based RPG system. This decision was made because of the success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Interviewed by IGN, the Yakuza creator duo Toshihiro Nagoshi and Kazuki Hosokawa explained that there were changes in the concept of the Yakuza and Judgment games. The developer decided that Yakuza's action gameplay would later be implemented in Judgment. Meanwhile Yakuza will adopt a turn-based RPG element.
This means that Yakuza and Judgment fans will have choices in the future. If they want a game with action gameplay they can play Judgment. If you want something like an RPG game, you can choose Yakuza.
Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku has also announced a sequel to Judgment entitled Lost Judgment. This game will be released this year on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.
