In Naruto, there are a lot of strong and powerful ninja clans. One of them is Senju, the descendant of Hagoromo Otsutsuki that gives them a large chakra pool.

Besides being known as the rival of the Uchiha clan, the Senju clan is known for their techniques and titled “Senju Clan of the Forest” because of one the member’s ability to manipulate Wood release!

On this occasion, let’s get to know the members of the great Senju clan!

1. Butsuma Senju

The leader of the Senju clan during the Civil War, Butsuma is the father of four, Hashirama, Tobirama, Itama, dan Kawarama. 

As shown in the anime and manga, Butsuma is a calm but firm man, he doesn’t hesitate to hit his sons when they cry and wonder why the life of a ninja is filled with conflitcs. He is also a great swordsman.

2. Hashirama Senju

The oldest out of the four siblings dreamed of a day where ninja doesn’t have to kill one another. Alongside his friend and rival, Madara Uchiha, they both built the first hidden village, Konohagakure, and Hashirama is the First Hokage.

Hashirama is called the “God of Shinobi” because of his unmatched power and ability to control Wood release -- although he is the only one to have it. He later marries Mito Uzumaki and Tsunade is his granddaughter.

3. Tobirama Senju

The brother of Hashirama and the one to set things straight. If Hashirama is someone that acts based on his heart, Tobirama will remind him to be practical and pragmatist.

Because of his great strategies and ninjutsu abilities, Tobirama is a great companion for Hashirama and becomes the second Hokage. He is also known for inventing numerous great jutsu such as Edo Tensei, Kagebunshin, and Hiraishin no Jutsu.

4. Itama Senju

The third brother of Hashirama. With his half black and white hair, he is a kind and a cry baby, unlike his siblings.

Itama died when ambushed by the Uchiha shinobi.

5. Kawarama Senju

The youngest out of the four siblings and has a scar on his cheek. When he died at a young age, Hashirama starts to question why a shinobi’s life is filled with useless battles.

6. Toka Senju

A kunoichi from the Senju clan. Although we never see her fight, Toka is always by Hashirama’s and Tobirama’s side when the Senju clan is gathering. So Toka may have been a powerful kunoichi.

7. Tsunade

The granddaughter of Hashirama and a Sannin from the second Shinobi World War after fighting the legendary Hanzo Hattori. Later on, Tsunade developed a medical technique to heal the soldiers at war.

After the death of the third Hokage, Hiruzen, Tsunade becomes the fifth Hokage.

8. Nawaki

The younger brother of Tsunade. He is similar to Naruto, he also dreamed of becoming a Hokage. Unfortunately, Nawaki died on the battlefield.
