This article may contain major spoilers, especially for those who haven’t seen the latest episodes of Arcane: League of Legends. So, it’d be better to skip this one if you don’t want to get spoiled.

Vander is one of the characters in Arcane who has become the talking point for many fans. Despite him only appearing in the first Act, Vander plays an important role, especially for the main characters: Jinx and Vi.

Many fans have come up with theories that connect Vander to one of the Champions in League of Legends, Warwick. However, do these theories hold any truth? Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Who is Vander?

Since the first episode of Arcane, Vander was introduced as the father figure to Vi, Powder, and other orphans in the Lanes. Before he took Vi and Powder under his wings, Vander was the mastermind of the uprising against the Piltover elitists -- as he once believed that only violence could bring change.

However, Vander got his perspective gradually changed after the tragedy that took a lot of lives in the Lanes and Zaun -- including Vi and Powder’s parents.

Because of this incident, Vander felt tremendous guilt as he started to change his perspective about life.

Silco, Vander’s old friend whom he considered his own brother, felt betrayed once Vander changed his view.

Vander was also the one who taught Vi how to fight. Vi imitated Vander’s fighting style to save Vander when he’s kidnapped by Silco.

Overall, Vander was an influential figure in the entire Zaun. Aside from being the father figure for Vi and Powder, Vander was also the ‘leader’.

Is Vander Actually Warwick?

Many fans speculate that Vander is Warwick before his transformation based on the Champion’s interaction in the game. So, is Vander the human form of Warwick?

in Warwick’s Champion lore, it says that “Warwick struggled to recall a single memory from his past... All he could see was blood. But then he heard a little girl screaming. Screaming something he couldn’t understand. It sounded like a name.” This supports the ending scene of the third episode of Arcane, where Vander is dying while Powder screams for Vi.

There’s another thing that supports the theory that Warwick is actually Vander, which is his in-game interaction with Vi, Warwick says “Who taught you how to punch?” As mentioned above, Vander’s the one who taught Vi how to fight.

Warwick also says “You were there,” and “Let me forget,” to Jinx (Powder). This may refer to the ending of Episode 3 of Arcane.

In conclusion, Vander may actually be Warwick based on the Champion interactions in the game, and the lore, which very much describes Vander. However, it’s yet to be confirmed as is still a mere fan theory.
