Silent Hill f is the latest installment in the legendary Silent Hill horror game franchise, scheduled to launch on September 25, 2025. Developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by Konami, this marks the first mainline title in 13 years since Silent Hill: Downpour (2012). Focus on Japanese Horror and a Strong Female Protagonist

Konami deliberately returned to the roots of Japanese horror in Silent Hill f, after feeling that the series had become too Westernized. The story is penned by Ryukishi07, the renowned writer behind the visual novel Higurashi When They Cry, known for his deep psychological themes and unsettling narratives. This time, he aimed to create a more empowered female protagonist—one who drives the story forward rather than simply enduring it. The central character, Hinako Shimizu, is a high school student struggling to survive in a fog-covered town filled with grotesque monsters.

Ryukishi07 revealed that the town of Ebisugaoka was inspired by Kanayama, located in Gero, Gifu Prefecture. The visual design follows the concept of "finding fear within beauty," creating a calm yet deeply disturbing atmosphere. This fresh direction is also evident in the visual style, which shifts away from the rust and blood of earlier games. The monster design team, led by artist Kera, faced the challenge of blending Japanese aesthetics with intense psychological horror.

Music and Official Release Date

In terms of music, Konami brought back legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, alongside Kensuke Inage. The soundtrack for the game's Fog World and Otherworld was crafted using a mix of traditional Japanese instruments and modern ambient soundscapes.

Silent Hill f will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Windows). A special edition includes digital items like an artbook and soundtrack, plus two days of early access ahead of the official release date. Pre-orders are now open, offering exclusive cosmetic bonuses for players.
