This week the Solo Leveling anime is back on air with the ninth episode of the anime. After episode 8 of Solo Leveling, you saw how Sung Jinwoo, who completed the mission to defeat Cerberus in episode 7, returned to his normal life. In this episode, you also saw how Jinwoo accepted Jinho's offer to do 19 raid dungeons to complete one of the requirements to be able to form a new Hunter Guild.
Unfortunately, in episode 8 yesterday, many fans were disappointed, because after being absent the previous week, the episode seemed ordinary and instead there were many unimportant scenes shown. But don't worry, episode 9 will return with tense fighting action from Jinwoo who has to face one of the members of the Hunter Union, namely Kang Taeshik. Instead of being curious, let's discuss directly what important things are in Solo Leveling Episode 9. You have to know that this discussion may contain spoilers for those of you who haven't watched the anime.
Solo Leveling Episode 9 Review
1. Jinwoo's Transformation Took Other Hunter's Interest
At the end of the previous episode, you learned how Jinwoo, Joohee, Mr. Kim, and Song Chi Yul had to enter the raid dungeon with three prisoners to reduce their terms. Finally, these three prisoners entered and joined in fighting the monsters in the dungeon. Interestingly, in this dungeon, Jinwoo, who has grown stronger throughout the season, seems to have difficulty hiding his newfound strength. Due to the fact, he was no longer the weakest hunter in the world, especially if the world found out how strong he was, it would bring unwanted attention.
Jinwoo, together with his party and three prisoners in this dungeon, continued to eradicate the goblins that appeared. Now Jinwoo can easily eradicate goblins, this is certainly something that surprised the hunters. Moreover, they were people who had worked with him, because they knew what he was like.
Jinchul even thought Jinwoo was stronger after he could feel his aura which had now changed from before. Joohee was even surprised that up to that moment, Jinwoo had not been injured in the slightest, unlike usual. It's fun to see Jinwoo trying to balance his desire to hide his strength, while he needs more enemies to level up.
2. Kang Taeshik Killed Prisoners
At first, everything seemed normal, until finally, they had to split into three teams to find where the dungeon boss was. Kang Taeshik went with three other prisoners, Jinwoo, Joohee, and Jinchul went together, and Mr. Kim and his partner went together to the other route. When only Kang Taeshik and the three prisoners were left who were killing goblins, Kang asked the prisoners if killing goblins was the same as killing humans, but they said there was no difference between monsters and humans.
Then a flashback shows Kang and a client, who mentions the injustice he received because these prisoners were the ones who raped and killed his child. So he asked Kang to kill these three people. Kang immediately carried out his goal, until finally their path was found by Mr. Kim and his colleagues. Mr. Kim was shocked to see how Kang finished off the prisoners mercilessly and without the slightest hesitation.
Kang finally killed the prisoner and now Mr. Kim and his colleagues have become targets because Kang wants to destroy the evidence. At that time, Jinwoo heard someone screaming and the three of them rushed over to them and found the bodies of the prisoners, their teammates, and Mr. Kim who were dying. In his final moments, Mr. Kim tried to apologize to Jinwoo for his mistakes so far.
3. Jinwoo Vs Kang Taeshik
In their sad mood, Kang Taeshik suddenly tried to attack Joohee but was quickly blocked by Jinwoo who blocked his attack. Kang tells how he plans to create a story that will explain how this murder happened in the Dungeon. That way, he could leave the Dungeon without raising the slightest suspicion about himself. Mr. Song, who is a C-rank Hunter, tried to hold him back and asked Joohee to give him a defensive buff. Pak Song also tries to fight Kang. However, it turned out that Song wasn't strong enough, so when Kang almost killed him, Jinwoo intervened to fight him.
Sung Jinwoo said that he was an E-rank Hunter. However, Kang was sure that Jinwoo was a fake ranker or someone who had experienced a second awakening, while Jinwoo was still confused about his true identity. Jinwoo, who felt disgusted and annoyed with Kang who chose to torture Mr. Kim and his other colleagues by injuring their body parts, turned out to be hiding the fact that Kang Taeshik was a murderer.
He has a great desire to kill humans or other hunters, and that is what makes him choose to work in the Hunter Guild with a lower salary. The fight between Jinwoo and Kang Taeshik was inevitable. They are both fast and can catch each other's speed. Kang Taeshik, who is a Rank B Hunter, also has many great skills.
4. A New Mission
Jinwoo and Kang Taeshik fought mercilessly, this made Jinwoo's system come up with a new mission, namely to finish off his opponent. Now, Jinwoo has the goal of killing Kang Taeshik for his own benefit. But because Kang Taeshik is not an easy opponent, he has many surprising hunting techniques. One of them is a camouflage skill that makes him disappear from Jinwoo's sight, thereby injuring Jinwoo's leg.
Jinwoo's wounds can recover quickly thanks to his full recovery. This surprised Kang because a Hunter has extraordinary healing skills. Jinwoo also activated his 'Lust for Killing' skill and managed to stab Kang Taeshik with his dagger, making Jinwoo win. Kang, who was dying, told Jinwoo that now after killing him, Jinwoo could no longer hide his identity and strength. Joohee and Song Chiyul thanked Jinwoo because they were saved by Jinwoo again. While he went to deal with the dungeon boss alone to close the Dungeon quickly.
5. Song Chiyul Helped Jinwoo
After leaving the Dungeon, Kang Taeshik's actions were immediately heard by the Hunter Union. Then Woo Jin Chul and a dungeon supervisor rushed to meet Jinwoo, Song Chi Yul, and Joohee who managed to survive Kang Taeshik's actions. Woo Jinchul couldn't believe Kang's actions, who had always had the intention to kill anyone. Jinchul was also surprised by Jinwoo, whose appearance had changed from the last time he saw him at the hospital.
When asked who killed Kang Taeshik, Jinwoo initially thought he would no longer be able to hide his strength. But Song Chi Yul firmly answered that he was the one who killed Kang Taeshik, assisted by Joohee who helped heal him as a Healer. Mr. Song tells Jinwoo that this is his way of repaying what Jinwoo did during the double dungeon incident, and thinks that Jinwoo must have his reasons for hiding his strength. The episode closes with Joohee and Jinwoo sitting down and Joohee showing the essence stone that Jinwoo gave her in the double dungeon incident.
This episode was quite exciting and tense, especially since many people didn't expect that the most vicious person would turn out to be Kang Taeshik from the raid group. Unfortunately, in this episode, Jinwoo loses his partner, Mr. Kim, again. And it is possible that in the next episode, there could be a trailer showing the sad reaction of Mr. Kim's family after losing him. This episode again shows interesting action scenes, with animation that makes the audience stunned and speechless watching the fight between Jinwoo and Taeshik. Not to mention the touch of gore and psychopathy shown by Kang Taeshik, the 'bloodthirsty' instinct is well depicted in this episode.
