Square Enix announced the closure of the Square Enix Cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo on March 31, 2025. However, the Square Enix ARTINA and Square Enix GARDEN cafes will remain open. The Square Enix Cafe in Akihabara first opened in 2016. Because of that, the deadline for digital stamp cards that can be used by visitors is March 31, 2025.

Square Enix has opened various cafes to promote their games such as Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, NieR, and Final Fantasy. Not long ago, one of the Square Enix cafes collaborated with Dragon Quest HD-2D which presented various interesting menus and merchandise.

In April 2024, the cafe in Tokyo held a Final Fantasy collaboration event to celebrate the launch of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection. Just like the previous collaboration, this event featured various unique foods and merchandise that visitors could taste and get for a limited time.

Another Square Enix Cafe location that has closed is in Osaka. The Osaka branch closed in August 2021. There is no information yet whether Square Enix will open cafes in other areas or not. For those of you who are currently in Japan, try visiting the Square Enix Cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo for an exciting experience, especially for Final Fantasy fans!
