Another major controversy has emerged in MPL Malaysia Season 17. This time, the spotlight has shifted toward SRG Esports EXP laner Mark 'Kramm' Genzon Sojero Rusiana, who has officially received a heavy punishment from the league.
Kram had already become the center of attention over the past few days. The situation began after he made inappropriate remarks during a post-match interview following SRG’s match against Invictus Gaming last weekend.
The moment quickly went viral across social media. Many members of the MLBB community believed Kram’s words had crossed the line of professionalism expected from an MPL player and were inappropriate to be delivered publicly.
Shortly after the controversy surfaced, Kram immediately issued a public apology. That quick response initially helped calm the situation because MPL MY had first announced that the player would not receive additional punishment.
However, MPL MY eventually released a follow-up announcement confirming Kram’s punishment. The league emphasized that this was an independent decision by MPL MY and was unrelated to the previous announcement.
SRG Kram Receives 7-Match Ban and $2,000 Fine
Through its official statement, MPL Malaysia confirmed that Kram had violated the league’s professional code of conduct. Because of that, the league decided to hand down significant penalties to the SRG player.
Here is the translated official statement from MPL Malaysia:
“We have found that Mark ‘Kramm’ Genzon Sojero Rusiana committed a serious violation of the official rulebook and code of ethics of MPL Malaysia. Kramm sent messages to an athlete in MPL Malaysia that violated several provisions in the official MPL Malaysia rulebook (Section 9.1.4 – professional conduct) and tarnished the values and standards upheld by MPL Malaysia.
In accordance with the official MPL Malaysia rulebook and penalty index, the league has imposed the following actions against Kramm:
A suspension for seven (7) matches, effective immediately across all official MLBB competitions worldwide.
A fine of USD 2,000.
The violation and punishment stated here are separate from the previous incident for which we had already released an official statement.”
The MPL MY sanction against SRG Kram immediately became an even bigger talking point after the announcement. A seven-match suspension is clearly a massive blow for SRG Esports, especially during the crucial stage of MPL MY S17.
Kram’s absence will almost certainly affect the team’s overall strength because he has become one of SRG’s most important players in the EXP lane. In addition, the suspension reportedly applies across all official MLBB competitions worldwide.
The MPL MY sanction against SRG Kram has also shown that the league is beginning to take a firmer stance on professionalism violations involving players. MPL MY appears determined to maintain a healthy and professional competitive environment.
Many fans are now curious about how SRG will adapt without Kram in the upcoming matches. The competition in MPL MY S17 has already entered a critical phase heading toward the playoffs.
On the other hand, part of the community believes the latest decision was appropriate because MPL MY still needed to set a strong example regarding actions considered violations of the league’s code of ethics.
With the official punishment now confirmed, the MPL MY sanction against SRG Kram will likely remain one of the hottest topics in the Southeast Asian MLBB community over the next few days.
