The MPL Malaysia Season 17 (MPL MY S17) competition has entered its mid-season, with rivalries between teams heating up. However, one major highlight occurred on Sunday, May 3, 2026, when the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) match against Invictus Gaming (iG) sparked controversy. Not in the match, but outside of it, specifically during an interview session where Selangor Red Giants' EXP Laner, Kramm, taunted his losing opponent.

Taunting is indeed permitted as long as it remains within the proper boundaries. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Kramm. Kramm's taunting ultimately sparked controversy among fans of the Malaysian MLBB competitive scene due to his comments about Invictus Gaming (iG). Kramm immediately apologized and acknowledged his mistake. MPL Malaysia has since taken a stance on this matter and issued an official statement regarding Kramm's taunting of Invictus Gaming.

MPL Malaysia's Official Statement Regarding SRG Kramm Taunting Invictus Gaming

The Selangor Red Giants' (SRG) 2-0 victory over Invictus Gaming (iG) became a controversial event after Kramm engaged in an unexpected act of taunting. Kramm was deemed to have accidentally uttered inappropriate words and undermined the team's sportsmanship. Realizing his mistake, Kramm immediately apologized for the incident via his Instagram account. Behind the scenes, Kramm quickly reconciled with YE3, and Coach Bam appeared to mediate between the two.

Fans of the competitive MLBB scene in Malaysia were also tense regarding Kramm's actions. Some believed his remarks were simply misinterpreted, while others drew criticism for appearing disrespectful to their opponents and displaying a lack of sportsmanship. MPL Malaysia immediately reviewed the issue of Kramm taunting Invictus Gaming and made a decision.

Through the official Instagram account, MPL Malaysia also spoke up, stating that after Kramm apologized, the problem had been resolved between the two teams. "Following the completion of all week 5 matches, MPL Malaysia has carried out an official audit and found that a player's statement during the post-match interview session had exceeded the limits of acceptable competitive expression, and contained language that was both targeting and inappropriate, while also violating the league's standards. Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken in line with the official rulebook."

"MPL Malaysia respects the intensity and competitiveness that is the identity of e-sport, however we emphasize that players' behavior both inside and outside the game must remain temperate and must not escalate to personal attacks or inappropriate behavior. All teams are briefed before each season and are constantly reminded by our on-air talent team throughout the season. The player has taken responsibility for his actions and has personally issued an official apology. We consider this matter closed, and MPL Malaysia, along with its talent and team, is committed to continuing to maintain a professional competitive environment for all."

For your information, the statement above was posted on MPL Malaysia's official Instagram account and was not translated. However, one thing is certain, MPL Malaysia has taken a stance and taken the appropriate action regarding Kramm's actions. The Kramm taunting issue has been declared closed following the apology he posted on his Instagram account. Hopefully, in the future, all teams and players can maintain good sportsmanship.
