Shocking news came from one of the participating teams in the MSC 2025 competition, namely S8UL Esports, which acquired the BloodThirstyKings or BTK team from the North American (NA) region where Moonton imposed severe sanctions on them, namely the action of "disqualification" from the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup competition.
This was announced on Monday, June 30, 2025 where through Moonton's official statement that the S8UL team violated the rules with two of their team members, namely MobaZane and Hoon, being caught running a competitor MLBB game campaign. "Jang "Hoon" Seong-Hun and Michael "Mobazane" Cosgun from Team S8UL, the representatives from North America, have been found in breach of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup official rules due to their decision to participate in an event associated with a competing Mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) title," wrote Moonton.
"The MSC 2025 committee had extended multiple opportunities for Team S8UL to reconsider Hoon and MobaZane's participation in the competitor event. Despite these efforts, Team S8UL elected to proceed. Therefore, in the interest of maintaining the integrity of the tournament and enforcing consistency with The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup official rules, Hoon and Mobazane have been disqualified, effective immediately."
"Due to this suspensions, Team S8UL is no longer eligible to compete. The team is unable to meet the tournament's minimum roster requirements and is not eligible for roster changes or Force Majeure according to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup official rules."
Because this decision was considered unfair, BTK (the original team) filed a protest against the decision that disqualified them from MSC 2025. One of their pillars, Ian "FwydChicken" Howl spoke out about the team's status and BTK has filed a protest.
Players Caught Violating Official Rules, Team S8UL's Removal From MSC 2025 Draws Protests!
A few moments after the official decision of Moonton and the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup committee regarding the Hoon and MobaZane issue was released, FwydChicken spoke up about the issue through his YouTube channel. First, he emphasized that Moonton's decision to disqualify Team S8UL from MSC 2025 was not clickbait but was true.
FwydChicken and his friends had spent time training abroad to prepare for MSC 2025 but they were 'asked' to withdraw by Moonton because of a regulation that FwydChicken and his friends considered unfair and coercive.
"Okay everyone, this (livestreaming) title is not clickbait, not a joke (but) 100% true. I am very devastated, to share (the news) as players who have spent a full month training abroad to prepare for EWC we were forced to withdraw because of the unfair and oppressive ban (us) from Moonton," said FwydChicken.
FwydChicken continued that it was true that Hoon and MobaZane participated in the Honor of Kings (HOK) campaign during the period when they were preparing for the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup. However, FwydChicken stated that Hoon and MobaZane were not fully responsible because they conducted the campaign outside the agreed ban date.
"Currently, Moonton has sent us an official notification that we have been banned from competing in the Esports World Cup. The reason this (decision) happened was because of the HOK campaign that Hoon and MobaZane participated in on June 27, which was very different from July 23 where we were going to play," FwydChicken added.
"First, I don't blame Hoon and MobaZane and don't (want to) blame anyone. This campaign was planned in advance, they had planned (to participate) in this campaign whether they were allowed (or) not. And after being revised clearly, there is no (rule) that prohibits us from participating in MSC when they participate in the campaign," he explained.
"Because the MSC regulations prohibit it from July 10 to August 2 and the HOK Campaign period is from June 27 to June 28," he said.
Then, throughout the livestream, FwydChicken explained various points in the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup rules to viewers. FwydChicken also stated that their colleague, Dave "MaoMao" had spent money to hire a lawyer and negotiate.
However, instead of getting a solution, Moonton has contacted the North American (NA) runner-up team, Area77, and has not allowed Team S8UL to have a substitute player so that they can continue to participate in the MSC 2025 Esports World Cup. Finally, FwydChicken appreciates all forms of support given by the public to them for the current problems.
"I would really appreciate it if you support us in any form and way in the future. Like and Subscribe, Goodbye," he concluded.
