The final episode of the third season of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc has aired. The anime, which has a total of 11 episodes in its third season, is now officially over and the broadcast of the last episode yesterday surprised fans. It even makes fans create various Demon Slayer theories from the story. As you know, every demon in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba will surely die and burn to ashes if exposed to the sun. However, yesterday's episode surprised fans, especially when Nezuko Kamado, the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado, managed to stand in the sun at dawn after Tanjiro managed to kill Hantengu. Because Nezuko managed to survive under the sun and not vanish into dust, this has led many fans to speculate how Nezuko could be so strong. Here are some explanations about why Nezuko is immune to the sun.
The Reason Why and How Nezuko Could be Immune to Sunlight
When was Nezuko Known to be Immune to Sunlight?
You can read about Nezuko's moment of being immune to the sun in the manga in chapter 126, while in the anime, it was revealed in episode 11 of the third season in the Swordsmith Village Arc. At that time, the battle between Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya who was chasing the Upper Moon Demon Hatengu lasted almost all night and dawn was almost breaking. When dawn slowly began to rise, Nezuko initially felt steamed because it seemed that she was starting to burn all over her body.
Tanjiro was confused because he had to kill Hantengu but he also wanted to protect his little sister from the sun. In the end,y Nezuko pushed her brother to finish off Hantengu. In the end, Tanjiro managed to finish off Hantengu, and he was even sad because he thought he was sacrificing Nezuko to finish off the demon. But in fact, when he turned around, Tanjiro could see his sister who is still alive and getting up without any struggles under the sun.
Reason why Muzan Turned Nezuko into a Demon
In the final episode of the third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, we are told how Muzan Kibutsuji has spent thousands of years building up his powers and why he created demons. The reason Muzan continues to create demons is that he wants to experiment with turning humans into demons while looking for a solution for how he can overcome the devil's greatest weakness, which is destroyed when exposed to the sun. So what was Muzan's reason for choosing Nezuko to be turned into a demon out of all the humans?
As you all know, Tanjiro lost his family, which was slaughtered by demons in his own home. After this incident, Tanjiro's life began to change, moreover, his own sister Nezuko also turned into a demon as well. The reason why Tanjiro took part in the selection of demon hunters was also that he wanted to find the cure to revert Nezuko into a human again. For those of you Demon Slayer manga readers, you must be familiar with the figure of Yoriichi Tsugikuni.
Yoriichi was the person who first created the breathing technique which is currently used by all demon hunters in the Demon Slayer story. He was also the master of the Sun Breathing Technique. If you read the manga and it's mentioned several times in the anime, Muzan is afraid of Yoriichi or anyone who uses the sun breathing technique, because Yoriichi, who uses the breathing technique, almost killed him with it.
This made Muzan spend years hunting down anyone who came into contact with the breathing technique. Maybe knowing Yoriichi's relationship with the Kamado family was his reason to hunt down the Tanjiro family. That was the reason why Muzan massacred the Tanjiro family and left Nezuko as a demon in one of his experiments, to find a demon who was immune to the sun.

The Reason Why Nezuko Immune to Sunlight
It seems that Muzan's experiments which have been carried out for years have finally paid off. After Hantengu's fight with Tanjiro, Muzan now knows that Nezuko's power can be immune to the sun. Then, Muzan decides to stop creating demons and will focus on getting Nezuko and sucking her blood so he can also be immune to the sun and become immortal. While the strong reason why Nezuko can be immune to the sun is that she comes from a family that passed down the Sun Breathing Technique. As you know, Tanjiro now also has the power of this breathing technique to fight demons, such as a technique with the name Hinokami Kagura which is widely used by Tanjiro.
Another compelling reason is that if you read chapter 196 in the Demon Slayer manga, you can see flashbacks of Nezuko's memory of when the Kamado family was massacred by Muzan. There, Muzan was disappointed that the Kamado family died so easily when he was slaughtered by him and commented that it seemed he couldn't create a demon that could conquer the sun. Based on his words, there is an assumption that actually Muzan already knew that the Kamado family was the successor to the Sun Breathing Technique which he had been hunting for a long time and really wanted to create a demon that could stand under the sun. At that time, Muzan thought he had failed, but it turned out that Nezuko managed to survive and is actually now completely immune to sunlight.
Another Theory of Why Nezuko Immune to Sunlight
Aside from her being a descendant of the Sun Breathing Technique, some fans have speculated that the reason why Nezuko is immune to the sun is because of the blue spider lily flower. As you know, this blue spider lily flower is the flower that Muzan has been looking for for a long time, because when he was still sick, a healer gave him medicine that made him strong and eventually turned him into a demon that devours humans. Muzan knows that his body's weakness is sunlight, and the only thing that can overcome that is the blue spider lily flower. The only person who knew the location of the flower was the healer, and the healer had been killed by him.
Some fans speculate that Nezuko is immune to the sun because she ate the blue spider lily. Even though it wasn't explained before, it's estimated that Nezuko ate this flower if based on the timeline, Nezuko should have consumed the flower when she was still a human. This also means that all members of the Kamado family have consumed the processed flower, including Tanjiro. Although it hasn't been explained in more depth, it seems that something in the flower has a certain effect that can make a demon immune to the sun.
Tamayo also said, from the results of her research on Nezuko's blood, according to, Nezuko's blood was quite special and different from other demon blood. Nezuko's blood is able to treat people who turn into demons and even Tamayo predicts Nezuko's ability to later become immune to the sun before it actually happened in the last episode of the third season of Demon Slayer. Manga readers may already know that at the end of the story, it is told that this blue spider lily flower can only grow during the day for a fairly short time, this flower only grows 2-3 days once a year. Because of this, why Muzan has never been able to find the flower he has been looking for because it grows during the day, while he cannot appear during the day.
Another reason that supports this theory is the appearance of Nezuko's memory flash showing a blue spider lily flower. During the first season of the Demon Slayer anime, in the midst of Tanjiro and Rui's fight, Nezuko displays a few of her memories of when she was still human. One of the memory fragments displays the appearance of a blue spider lily flower. This means that it is possible that Nezuko's mother, or Kie Kamado, actually knew the location of the flower and unknowingly made the flower part of the food consumed by the Kamado family.
As for the location of the blue spider lily flower itself, it is likely to be in the former grave of Uta, the former wife of Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Long ago, Yoriichi's house was given to the ancestor of the Tanjiro family, so it's likely that Uta's tomb is nearby. This may be the reason why Kie, the mother of Nezuko, can find out the location of the flower. It's possible that because the Kamado family felt indebted to Yoriichi, they decided to look after Uta's grave and visit it frequently so that Kie knew about the existence of the flower.
If based on the case of Nezuko who is now immune to the sun, it seems that it was due to the mixing of Muzan's demonic DNA which met the effects of the blue spider lily flower inside Nezuko. Seeing how Tamayo's research results say that Nezuko's blood is unique and can change a fairly fast time so that it dominates demon blood which contains a lot of Muzan's blood and returns humans who turn into demons. This is also a possibility if Nezuko's blood is actually a drug that can be an antidote to her turning into a demon herself. If you notice, at the beginning of her transformation into a demon, Nezuko can only hibernate while sleeping. But over time, Nezuko showed Nezuko's demon blood technique which can be an antidote, and now the effect of this blue spider lily flower is starting to activate more than Muzan's demonic DNA, which makes Nezuko slowly starts turning back into a human.
So, what do you think about the theory of why Nezuko Kamado can be immune to sunlight based on the explanation above? Do you agree with those theories above?
