One Piece Theory: Gomu Gomu no Mi Might be a Zoan Devil Fruit, Here's Why!
This is the theory about the Gomu Gomu no Mi which is probably not a Paramecia, but a Zoan-type devil fruit!

In One Piece, it is explained that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is a Paramecia-type devil fruit. But there is a theory that says that Gomu Gomu no Mi is not a Paramecia type, but a Zoan-type instead. How could that be? In this article, Dunia Games would like to discuss this theory. Here's the article!
This theory comes from a Facebook account user named Winvill. This theory arose from his thoughts on the Mochi Mochi no Mi, a devil fruit eaten by Katakuri that has both Paramecia and Logia abilities. Then, he thought what if the Gomu Gomu no Mi was not a Paramecia, but a Zoan. To debunk his theory, Winvill had a pretty good reason as explained below:
1. The Tale of Momotaro
Momotaro is a famous fairy tale from Japan that is also the inspiration for the Wano arc. In this folklore, Momotaro defeats the demons with help from a monkey, a dog, and a pheasant. If we connect this folklore to One Piece, especially the Wano arc, Momotaro is indeed Momonosuke, while the pheasant is Marco, and the dog is Yamato whose devil fruit was recently revealed in the manga.
2. Who is the Monkey?
If the dog is Yamato and the pheasant is Marco, then Luffy should be the monkey. Yamato and Marco are users of the Mythical Zoan abilities, while Luffy uses Paramecia's abilities. Then what if the Gomu Gomu no Mi was a Zoan devil fruit?
This does not mean that the monkey is Luffy because he has Monkey on his name, but there are other reasons for that. It is possible that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is a Mythical Zoan fruit whose name was faked. What if the fruit's actual name was Monkey Monkey no Mi: Monkey King?
Besides being able to turn into humans/animals, Mythical Zoan can also make its users unleash certain abilities. For example, Sengoku can unleash power waves and Kaido can use fire bursts. It could be that Monkey Monkey no Mi's ability is to lengthen body parts inspired by Sun Wukong who lengthens his stick.

3. Protected by the World Government
If it's just an ordinary Paramecia fruit, the World Government didn't need to send CP9 to protect it when it's shipped. If it was protected like that, surely the Gomu Gomu no Mi is an extraordinary devil fruit, and it could be the rarest Mythical Zoan in existence.
The CP9 is usually tasked with high-risk missions. For example, finding plans for an ancient weapon, Pluton, as well as capturing Nico Robin, the last Oharan who can read poneglyphs, as these two are considered major threats to the World Government. Then what if the Gomu Gomu no Mi is also one of the biggest threats?
Shanks stole the fruit from CP9 because he might know the fruit's real name. It's possible that the details of this fruit were written on the Rio poneglyph, then Roger explained to Shanks about the fruit and also Joyboy. Shanks was then given the task of guarding the fruit and finding Joyboy while maintaining the balance of the world.
In chapter 1037, this theory becomes even clearer when Gorosei talked about the hidden Gomu Gomu no Mi's real name as well as something that hasn't been awakened. It could be that this fruit had a great influence on the Void Age. Could this be the devil fruit that Joyboy ate?
So that's the theory of Gomu Gomu no Mi's true nature. Keep in mind that this is just a theory so it shouldn't be taken seriously. If you find this article interesting, share it with your friends.
