In One Piece Theory column, this time, the writer would like to make a prediction on Luffy’s biological mother. Oda once said that one day, he’d reveal Luffy’s mother in the story. Yet, up until now, there’s no sign of the character’s reveal. However, there are hints about Luffy’s mother that you might agree on!

Monkey D. Luffy is the protagonist who will become the pirate king in the future. He obviously had a significant role in the anime. We already know that Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon, is the most wanted pirate. But then, what about Luffy’s mother? Could she still be alive?

Since there’s no clue about her, she might be keeping a huge secret that Garp wouldn’t even want to reveal. There’s a possibility that Garp intentionally told Luffy that his mother had died giving birth. It could be that Luffy’s mother is wanted by the World Government, that she left Luffy so that her son could live in peace.

In an SBS column volume 44, chapter 440 to be more exact, a fan asked Oda: 

F: “Oda-sensei, I have a serious question. Will you ever draw Luffy’s parents?”

O: “His parents? They’ve already been drawn. And they’ll appear in the next volume. Look forward to it.”

Could it be that one of the members of the Revolutionary Army is Luffy’s mother? Of all the panels in volume 45, it’s only this person suspected as the Straw Hat Captain’s mother. In volume 60, or episode 510, we can have a clear view of the mysterious figure.

In your own opinion, who the-alleged-Luffy’s-mother in volume 45 actually is? Is it possible that Oda will bring the character in this Wano arc? If so, it’ll definitely make this arc even more interesting. Oda himself has said that Luffy’s mother is a tough fighter. 

Yet, on the other hand, Luffy didn’t even aware of his father, Dragon, after hearing about him from Garp. So, it’s possible that he also never knew his mother. How do you think Luffy’s gonna react when facing his mother?
