On the cover of One Piece chapter 875, Bartolomeo burns the Jolly Roger of Red Hair Pirates that was lead by Shanks. If this is just a joke by Bartolomeo, then it’s a failed joke. Even other seemed scared by his action of burning Shanks’s Jolly Roger. They are worried about Bartolomeo’s fate.

There are many theories on the internet about Luffy’s mother, the power of Monkey D. Dragon, and many more. Many thinks that Shanks will just laugh it off but this is not a simple matter. Most people think that Shanks will forgive Bartolomeo because there’s a sticker of Luffy’s Jolly Rodger there.

The writer personally thinks that this may lead to a major event. Something bad may happen to Bartolomeo. Shanks will take action when he found out that his flag is burned, even if the one that did it is Luffy’s subordinate. It’s because Bartolomeo’s action mocks not just Shanks, but the whole Red Hair Pirate.

Shanks have to take action since jolly Roger is the honor of a pirate crew. If a crew doesn’t respect a jolly Roger, then that person holds no honor. This is also the reason why Luffy di not let Chopper’s flag get dropped during the Drum Island arc.

Additionally, burning Shanks’s flag means Bartolomeo declares war. Remember when Usopp burns the World Government’s flag in Enies Lobby? This act is considered as Straw Hat Pirate declaring war against the World Government.

If Bartolomeo acts like this toward a Yonkou such as Shanks, then the man who wielded Gryphon will not let it go. Shanks didn’t become a Yonkou just because he is kind. He may be kind, but Shanks is still a pirate.

Don’t forget about what happened when Kid challenged Shanks. Shanks may forgive Bartolomeo because of Luffy, but other crews such as Benn Beckman, Lucky Roo, or Yasopp doesn’t care about that. They may think of it as an insult. And when they take action, Bartolomeo’s life will be in great danger.

You can’t declare war with a Yonkou and get away with it. Even if the Jolly Roger that Bartolomeo burns are not the real one on Shanks’s ship, the action alone is still an insult. It’s going to be interesting to see Oda explain what happens next to Bartolomeo.

If Luffy finds out, he will get disappointed in Bartolomeo. And knowing that Shanks is a Yonkou, he will not let Bartolomeo trample on his dignity, so he may take action. Bartolomeo may suffer the same fate as Kid, losing one of his arms.
