Thomas Godolkin has become one of the most talked-about characters since his appearance in Gen V Season 2, a spin-off of the popular series The Boys. This mysterious figure is revealed to be the main villain in the latest storyline that expands The Boys universe.
Who Is Thomas Godolkin?
Thomas Godolkin was originally known as the founder of Godolkin University, a campus used by Vought-American as a front for secret experiments on “Supes” or superhumans. He was a behavioral scientist with close ties to Frederick Vought, the creator of Compound V, the serum that grants humans superpowers.
Within the series timeline, Thomas has a dark and tragic past. In the 1960s, he led a secret research initiative known as Project Odessa, an experiment aimed at creating god-like beings among humans. However, the project ended in disaster—the scientists involved were killed due to the unstable serum, and Thomas himself was severely burned before being injected with Compound V to prolong his life.
From Scientist to Monster
After the incident, Thomas Godolkin assumed a new identity as Cipher. Under this persona, he continued his dangerous research and developed the extraordinary ability to possess and control other people’s bodies, whether they were human or Supe. He could project his consciousness into his target’s body, fully taking control of their actions and powers.
This ability made Thomas one of the most dangerous Supes in The Boys universe. He was capable of taking over someone’s body for decades, turning them into a “living puppet” with no control over their own mind. In addition to his possession powers, Thomas also possesses longevity and enhanced hearing, common traits among Compound V users.
Thomas Godolkin’s Role in Gen V Season 2
In Gen V Season 2, Thomas appears weak and severely burned, hidden inside Cipher’s house. However, as the story progresses, it’s revealed that he is still alive and plotting to continue his research in hopes of creating a “perfect” new generation of Supes. He even plans to use the main protagonist, Marie Moreau, to fully restore himself.
Thomas’s return also introduces a new layer of conflict between the students of Godolkin University and the Vought corporation. His connection to Vought’s past experiments and his involvement in the history of Compound V make Season 2 darker and more complex than ever.
