Dynasty Warriors 5 is a PlayStation 2 hack-and-slash game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei. This game was popular back in the days and was often seen in many PS2 rental places. 1. Playable Characters

In general, the Dynasty Warriors series is about the war between the Three Kingdoms back in ancient China. Those kingdoms were Wei who ruled the north, Shu who ruled the west, and Wu in the east. Dynasty Warriors is a game where every kingdom has its playable representatives or characters which players can choose. There are lots of characters that can be played in this game.

There are 3 kingdoms in the Dynasty Warriors 5 game as we previously mentioned, and several other famous figures back then. Shu (represented by color green) is led by Liu Bei and has 13 playable characters. Wu (represented by the color red) is led by Sun Quan and has 14 playable characters.

Meanwhile, Wei (represented by the color blue) is led by Cao Cao, and it has 13 playable characters. Then, there are 8 playable characters under the Others group (though represented by the color yellow, every warrior in this list has a different color with each other). The total number of playable characters is still small compared to the latest game of the series, Dynasty Warriors 9, which has more than 90 playable characters.

2. Other Games and Spin-Offs

Aside from the original game, Koei has spawned two other titles for this game, namely the Xtreme Legends and Empire editions. The Xtreme Legends version has new stages and items, and the gameplay provided is more challenging to test a player's skill. In Destiny mode, players can create a custom character and choose which kingdom they want to serve, either Shu, Wei, or Wu.

Whereas in the Empire version, you will spend most of the time as a tactician or an emperor of a kingdom who tries to dominate all of China by any means necessary. You will be faced with various scenarios to test your skills as a tactician. One little misstep, then your force can be eliminated by the opposing forces.

3. Real-Life Events that Adapted into the Game

All Dynasty Warriors series are based on the famous classic novel titled “Romance of Three Kingdoms”. Therefore, the stages and maps presented in the Dynasty Warriors 5 are loosely based on past battles in China with the addition of certain storylines to make it dramatic. In Japan, this is the same as during the Sengoku era where Nobunaga Oda and other figures fought each other to unify Japan.

4. Trading Card Game

In 2005, Koei released Dynasty Warriors 5 Trading Card Game. It was created by Hiroyuki Suwahara. At that time, the starter box (which has 53 cards) was sold for 1500 Yen, while the booster pack (10 cards) was sold for 280 Yen. There were a total of 266 cards released in total. However, the card game didn't last long because it wasn't very popular.

5. The Most Feared Character
