History
Digimon Rumble Arena is the English version of Digimon Tamers Battle Evolution. It’s a crossover fighting game from various Digimon series, ranging from Digimon Adventure to Digimon Tamers. This game was developed and published by Bandai in collaboration with Hudson for the Playstation or PSX.
Digimon Rumble Arena was released in Japan, on December 6, 2001, and on February 24 in North America. Players can play up to 24 characters, however, 15 of them need to be unlocked first. The sequel of the game, Digimon Rumble Arena 2, was released three years later in Japan for Nintendo GameCube, Playstation 2, and Xbox.
Most Memorable Moments
Players can play any Digimon from any installments of the anime series, ranging from Digimon Adventure to Digimon Tamers. Of the 24 Digimon available, there are some players’ favorites, including Agumon, Veemon, Guilmon, Impmon, as well as Mega Digimon, such as Omegamon, Beelzemon, BlackWargreymon, along with the boss in the game, Reapermon.
What most people love when using Agumon is when it evolves into Wargreymon and uses the Gaia Force. It’s because the range of the attack is big enough to hit the enemy. While for Guilmon, when it evolves into Gallantmon, it will have a special attack, Final Purification, that will always hit the enemy easily.
While the reason many players use Mega-class Digimon such as Omegamon is that all of its attacks are extremely effective towards various enemies, ranging from the shortest to the tallest. With Garuru Cannon on the circle button and Grey Sword on the triangle button, plus the special skill, Supreme Cannon, it becomes the most favorite Digimon for any player to use.
If you’re feeling nostalgic after reading this, you still can play it on Android phones and PC using PSX emulators, such as epsxe. If you want to play it with someone, make sure to play on PC due to the analog sticks support.
If you are a big fan of the Digimon franchise, you can try playing a mobile Digimon game from Bandai Namco, Digimon ReArise. Wait for another discussion on the Throwback column that covers old-school games, on DuniaGames!
