FIFA 20 and eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2020 are two interesting soccer games. But, which one is better? Is FIFA 20 able to attract many fans of PES 2020 in Indonesia? Or is PES finally able to resolve the license issue and the online match mode to defeat FIFA?

Here are the comparisons between the two games:

1. Gameplay

Gameplay is the most important thing in a soccer game. No need to look at the club license issue or the similarity of the players’ faces, a soccer game will not sell well if the gameplay is boring. Fortunately, PES and FIFA this year are both equally interesting. But, what are the differences?

This year PES made some improvements on the players’ dribble techniques, first touch and more realistic kicking accuracy and also the ball movement. The most distinct improvement is the defense technique when your team is under attack. When in an AI (artificial intelligence) attack that will make movements to block the flow of the ball, even you can also do intentional foul.

As usual, the flow of the matches in PES looks slower. Players on the field seem to take time when they are just receiving the ball. The result is the movement of the players in PES is really similar to the movements of players in the real world.

FIFA also made some improvements to the gameplay on AI's ability to survive attacks, consistency in shooting and crossing the ball. A distinct change can be seen from the free kick arrangement in FIFA 20. In FIFA you can adjust the position of the times concerning the ball so that the ball's direction of rotation is more controlled.

Besides that. you also can not do skills continuously like in FIFA 19. If you do the skill in an improper situation, your skill will fail.

When compared to previous editions, FIFA 20 match flow looks slower. But this flow is still much faster than PES 2020. Which means that there will be more action you can get in the FIFA 20 match.

2. Graphics

After gameplay, the second thing that is usually the first thing to be noticed in a soccer game is the graphics. This year, both PES and FIFA made improvements in their game graphics. Unfortunately these improvements do not seem too big.

As usual, PES gives players the incredible details of the teams they have licenses for. It's a shame that seems inconsistent with the other teams. For example, the players in Juventus look very similar to the original but the same details do not appear on the players from Fiorentina.

Although they don't have the same details as the players from the PES-licensed teams, the faces of the players in FIFA look more consistent for all the teams.

Overall, PES 2020 has advantages in the graphics of the stadium display, lighting, pitch grass, players’ faces (for licensed teams) and details such as muscle, tendon and sweat of the players.

While FIFA 20 has advantages in the facial expressions, mouths, players’ uniforms, hair movements and also the fans presented at the match. Keep in mind that FIFA 20 has a fresher user display than the PES 2020 display that looks bigger.

3. License

The big difference between PES 2020 and FIFA 20 can be seen from licensing issues. Despite trying to add several new licenses, PES 2020 only has a few big team licenses such as Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

This makes the licensed teams that PES don’t have like Liverpool will compete with different jerseys than those used in real world. If you are using PC or PS4, this problem can be solved using a patch, unfortunately to install the patch requires more effort.

Meanwhile in FIFA 20 you can get almost all of the team licenses (except for Juventus). This allows PES to display all the costume attributes of a team including the score board which similar to the original on tv screen.

4. Playing Mode

This year Konami promised to improve various modes in PES 2020 such as the Master League and MyCareer. In addition, Konami also presents new features such as Matchday which aims to improve the online competence of PES which has been lagging behind FIFA.

Meanwhile FIFA has been known as a soccer game with various interesting match modes. The tradition is still maintained by FIFA 20 by presenting the FIFA Ultimate Team's flagship mode.

Not satisfied with just FUT, FIFA 20 presents Volta mode which is very similar to the FIFA Street game on PS2.

The Final Result

Although both FIFA and PES are soccer games, it seem they have different kinds of fans. If you are looking for a soccer simulator game that really similar to the original match, only planning to play it offline, or a big fan of Juventus, PES 2020 is the right choice for you.

But if you are concerned with licensing from many teams and leagues, faster match lines and also prefer to compete online, FIFA 20 is a soccer game for you.
