Gaismagorm is the final boss in the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. As the last boss, Gaismagorm is an incredibly strong monster and has different mechanics.
The fight against Gaismagorm is divided into two different phases. In each phase, you’ll need a different strategy to damage this monster.
For those of you who are having a hard time dealing with Gaismagorm in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, be sure to check out this guide!
Weaknesses
Gaismagorm has several weak spots where you can do a high amount of damage on. The first one is obviously its head, and then its wing arms. You can also sever Gaismagorm’s tail if you manage to inflict enough damage.
This monster is also weak against Dragon-elemental attacks, thus, using a Dragon-type weapon is your best choice. Aside from that, Gaismagorm is also weak against Blast elements, so, use your best Blast or Dragon weapons to dish out maximum damage!
Follow Fiorayne’s Advice
Fiorayne will signal you when you should follow the set mechanics to either inflict damage or survive Gaismagorm’s ultimate attacks.
Ignoring Fiorayne’s advice may lead to you getting completely crushed by Gaismagorm.
1st Phase
Attack Its Head, Wing Arms, and Tail
During the first phase of your fight against Gaismagorm, try to focus on hitting its weak spots, which are its head, two of its front wing arms, and its tail.
Watch out for its attacks and keep a distance as Gaismagorm can dish out nasty damage. Once you manage to inflict enough damage, then you can proceed to the next phase.
Get Behind the Rocks!
You may notice the red crystals dropping from Gaismagorm’s body. After receiving enough damage, Gaismagorm will position itself near the cliff and spawn some rock walls.
Use these rocks to hide as Gaismagorm will pull everything in front of it and blow all of its red crystals. If you want to survive these attacks, get behind the rocks!

2nd Phase
Use Ballistae to Stop Its Powerful Attacks
After inflicting enough damage, Ballistae will be sent to help you. Once Gaismagorm starts climbing the walls, use the Ballistae and blast the red orbs on its back.
Blasting one of these orbs will inflict tremendous damage, so, it’s highly advised to focus on only one of them. Once Gaismagorm reaches the top, two things can happen.
If you manage to destroy all of the red orbs, Gaismagorm will fall. Otherwise, Gaismagorm will launch a vast area attack and inflict enormous damage — get away from the red area!
Break All of Its Body Parts
During this phase, you can start breaking all of Gaismagorm’s body parts. Hit the two of its wing arms until you break its nails. You can also loot its tail once it’s severed.
Learn Gaismagorm’s Moves and Attack Patterns
In Monster Hunter, players must learn the monsters’ moves and how to dodge them. Here are Gaismagorm’s moves that you should be aware of.
Despite its enormous size, Gaismagorm’s attacks are quite predictable. The ground around it will turn red when it’s preparing its breath attack.
Granted, its attacks cover a large area, but you can see the indicator of when it will launch its attacks. You’ll have enough time to avoid Gaismagorm’s attacks.
- Body Spin: Gaismagorm uses its entire body as an attack and spin, swinging both of its claws and tail. This attack can hit twice and inflict a massive amount of damage.
- Slam & Sweeps: Throughout the fight, Gaismagorm does various slams with its wing arms, and sweeps, which will either kick up large boulders or be followed by explosions.
- Vacuum Breath: In addition to its damaging roar, Gaismagorm can use its maw as a vacuum and begin to pull in hunters. In the 1st phase, it will suck in air from the front or sides, and also serves as a hint for its ultimate. In the 2nd phase, Gaismagorm usually inhales before using a slam or charge attack.
- Fireball Attacks: Gaismagorm has several attacks that will leave behind large fire orbs that quickly detonate. In 1st phase, Gaismagorm will breathe fireballs in an arc around its face after which they'll detonate. In 2nd phase, it will roam around the arena leaving several fire orbs, so be sure to find a safe zone before the room erupts.
- Explosive Clap: When Gaismagorm's front legs glow red, it will clap them together and cause a large explosion. So, be sure to be careful when you're in front of its face.
