RRQ Mort shared some tips for any Support player in PUBG Mobile. Although the role is often overlooked by many, Support is one of the most crucial roles in the PUBG Mobile professional esports scene. As a role that demands versatility in supporting teammates in various situations, mastering this role is certainly not as easy as one would think.
In an interview with PUBG Mobile Indonesia, RRQ RYU Support, Wahyu Ari "Mort" Maulana, shared 5 tips to help you play as Support in PUBG Mobile like a professional.
1. Make Sure to Always Have Extra Supplies for the Team
One of the main tasks of Support in PUBG Mobile is to ensure that the team can fight efficiently by providing utility items from ammunition and weapon attachments, grenades, and healing items.
So, good Support must always be ready to pass these items to teammates in need and prioritize the team’s needs over their own.
2. Always Prioritize Knocked-Down Allies
Another crucial role for Support is to revive knocked-down teammates. To be able to do this, a Support player has to be the last player who gets knocked in the team.
That’s why Support player has to be good at positioning themselves. And with the newly-added Carry feature in PUBG Mobile, a Support has to be smart in reviving teammates.
“A good Support player has to always be smart in covering and positioning themselves, always being able to take advantage of their position to help teammates. Try not to be the first who gets knocked down when retaking a spot, otherwise, it can harm the player in front (rusher) who’s pushing,” said Mort.
3. Help the Rusher Clearing Out Areas
A Support player has to work alongside the Rusher to retake and/or clear areas. Again, Positioning is key in this since a Support should never be too close to the Rusher due to the risk of endangering themselves and the Rusher.
“A Support player has to always help the Rusher in retaking or clearing out areas. Try not to be too close to the Rusher to avoid getting knocked down together. Keep a good distance to cover each other,” said Mort.

4. Always Be Ready to Make Split-Second Decisions
Even though most of the decisions in the team are made by the captain or In-Game Leader (IGL), sometimes a Support also has to make a decision. The key is to know which situation has to be prioritized.
“A good Support player must know the priorities. For example, when we’re taking a different angle than our teammates in the late game, and the teammates need our help to clear out the area that they’re heading, a Support has to abandon their control area and help teammates when needed,” said Mort.
On the other hand, Mort also mentioned that if the other teammates are still able to handle the situation, a Support player still has to position themselves as the backline guard.
“However, if our teammates can still handle it, I suggest is to stay in position and back up (the team) from that position as most of the time a Support has to keep the backline to avoid getting shot from the back,” he added.
5. Try to Get More Experience and Keep on Learning
In closing, Mort also advised players to learn more by watching the gameplay of professional Support players in tournaments. Later on, you can try to apply the knowledge that you learned from this to your own gameplay.
“Learn more and look for professional tournaments on any media (platform) to watch the gameplay so that you can gain knowledge and apply it yourself because it’s easier if you have a reference of different Support players,” he said.
However, Mort also expects that you don’t take everything from professional players and apply them right away. Instead, you need to adjust them to your own playstyle so that you can still feel comfortable carrying out your tasks as the Support.
“Different teams and players have different playstyles. Therefore, you can watch professional players and emulate their gameplay by developing or modifying it to suit your playstyle,” he added.
