Makoto Soda is one of the opponents that Tsubasa had faced in the Japan Middle School Tournament. Because of his amazing abilities, Soda was chosen as one of the players representing Japan Jr. national team at the world class tournament. Here are some facts about Soda in Captain Tsubasa!
1. Lose from RJ7
Soda became one of the players who was casted away by coach Gamo from the training camp after losing against RJ7. But after he went through his hard training, Soda returned and mastered a new technique, namely the Razor Pass, a pass that was able to outwit opponents with his spin.
2. Wears the Number 7 Jersey
Since his match with Tsubasa when they were at Azumaichi, Soda wore the number 7 jersey. Then, when he was chosen as one of the members of the Japan Jr. national team, Soda still choose the same number. The number seemed to deserve to be on Soda's back.
3. The Second Yellow Card
In the anime Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002, when Japan faced France in the International Jr. Youth Tournament, Soda received two yellow cards from the referee. Initially, Soda and Napoleon who were involved in the fight got a warning from the referee by giving them a yellow card. After that, Soda received the second yellow card after accidentally hit Napoleon’s face by using his elbow. As the result, Soda must be removed from the match.
4. Kamisori Shot
Kamisori Shot or Razor Shot becomes Soda’s signature technique that once broken Morisaki’s goal when competing against Nankatsu. Giving a spin before kicking the ball, this technique can change the ball’s direction drastically when directed at the opponent’s goal. Soda who has mastered this technique at the young age is a genius.
5. Ace Killer
"Ace Killer" is a nickname given to Soda because he has repeatedly harming his opponent's ace players. His dangerous Razor Tackle technique has defeated many opponents, including Tsubasa.
