The First Omen has been released in Indonesian cinemas and on several streaming platforms. This film offers a supernatural and psychological horror prequel story. As a prequel to the iconic The Omen, released in 1976, it invites viewers to delve into the roots of this horror story.
For those interested in watching it, it's better to view the previous films first. The Omen franchise offers several other titles that will enrich your viewing experience. With a duration of 119 minutes, this film, directed by Arkasha Stevenson, offers a gripping adventure worth exploring.
So, what is the order of the Omen franchise before The First Omen that has been widely discussed? Here is the complete order!
1. The Omen
The horror film The Omen was first released in 1976. The story follows the tragedy that befalls Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) and Katherine (Lee Remick) after losing their first baby. Although the doctor states Katherine can no longer have children, they adopt a baby from the hospital without Katherine's knowledge.
The baby is named Damien (Harvey Spencer Stephens). Five years later, when Damien's nanny dies, strange events begin to haunt the Thorn family. Father Brennan (Patrick Troughton) reveals the truth about Damien, triggering Katherine's suspicions. However, the decision to face the terrifying threat is confusing because Father Brennan says that Damien must be killed to solve their problems.
2. Damien: Omen II
The second film in The Omen franchise, Damien: Omen II, continues the story from the first film. In this 1978 release, Damien Thorn (Jonathan Scott-Taylor) is still alive. An archaeologist asks Michael Morgan to give a box to Damien, explaining that he is the Antichrist and that the box contains seven daggers to kill him.
Before the box is delivered, the archaeologist and Michael die in a building collapse incident. Seven years later, Damien is 12 years old and lives harmoniously, although some people hate him. However, family members who hate him start dying mysteriously, and the box containing the daggers, intended to kill Damien, is discovered.
3. Omen III: The Final Conflict
The third installment of The Omen, Omen III: The Final Conflict, follows the life of Damien Thorn (Sam Neill), Lucifer's son who is now an adult. The story does not show how Damien continues his life after losing his adoptive father. However, Damien is at the peak of his evil and aims for the position of the U.S. Ambassador to the U.K.
With his evil powers, he causes the current Ambassador's death. This marks a significant step for Damien in gaining power and preparing for a broader and more terrifying era of darkness.
4. Omen IV: The Awakening
The fourth film in The Omen franchise tells the story of the reincarnation of the devil's offspring's soul in a small child's body. Congressman Gene (Michael Woods) and lawyer Karen (Faye Grant) adopt a daughter from an orphanage.
Seven years later, their daughter, Della (Asia Vieira), begins to exhibit strange behavior, followed by a series of mysterious deaths around her. The worried parents start investigating Della's background with the help of a detective. As the investigation continues, dark secrets are revealed, uncovering Della's terrifying true identity.
5. The Omen Remake
The Omen, released in 2006 and directed by Glenn Williamson, is a remake of the first film. Although the storyline and conflicts are similar, differences appear in the cast. Robert (Liev Schreiber) secretly adopts a baby after losing their child with Katherine (Julia Stiles). They name him Damien (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick).
Father Brennan's (Pete Postlethwaite) arrival unveils Damien's background. As strange events continue to occur, their family's happiness is threatened, leading to a gripping horror story.
6. The First Omen
After years, Arkasha Stevenson released The First Omen in Indonesia on Wednesday (April 3, 2024), as a prequel to The Omen (1976). The story reveals the origins of Damien, the demon or Antichrist.
The tale begins with Margaret Daino's (Nell Tiger Free) religious mission in a church, which leads her into darkness. The presence of a crow signifies this darkness. Margaret's doubts about the church grow as she sees symbols of darkness. Her faith is tested as she discovers an evil conspiracy within the church, confusing yet convincing her about the hidden malevolence.
