VALORANT Patch 10.01: Rank Shields, Bug Fixes, and More!
New Rank Shields make climbing ranks in VALORANT more forgiving, plus significant fixes for Tejo.
Valorant | 22 January
For VALORANT players, the arrival of Patch 10.01 brings a breath of fresh air. Although this update is relatively brief, there are plenty of exciting things you need to know:
Competitive Mode: Rank Shields Added
Grinding ranked just got a little easier! Rank Shields are now available for players in Tier 1 of each rank (except Radiant). These shields act as a safety net when you're at 0 RR, giving you up to three chances to avoid demotion:
- Two shields per Tier 1 rank (e.g., Gold 1, Platinum 1).
- Losing at 0 RR consumes a shield, and losing three times will drop you to the rank below.
- Shields reset when you promote or demote into Tier 1 of a rank.

Bug Fixes: Agent and Maps
Our newest agent, Tejo, got plenty of love this patch:
- Fixed issues with his Guided Salvo, Stealth Drone, and Artillery Missile.
- Improved interactions with other agents, like Sage’s Barrier Orb and Slow Orb.
- Resolved clipping visuals and inconsistent damage indicators.
On Bind, invisible collisions in the teleporter rooms have been addressed, so your utilities should work as intended now.
Platform-Specific Fixes
- PC: Premier’s UI now looks more polished, with consistent font sizes and tooltips.
- Console: Fixed a queue timer issue overlapping with the Leaderboard page.
With the Rank Shields feature, it's time to climb the ranks again. Could this be the patch where you finally reach your dream rank?
