How to get Valor points and upgrade Mytic + Gear in WoW Dragonfight? Come check out the following tips!
Games | 10 January
World of Warcraft Dragonflight has tons of ways for you to develop your character. You can carry out raids, do Mythic + dungeons, and enjoy PvP battles with other players. The Dragonflight expansion has brought a ton of new content to enjoy, like new zones, more ways to farm WoW gold, and the like. But apart from the new mechanics, it also brings some returning features, such as Valor Points.
If you already have experience playing Shadowlands, you will know how Valor Points work. But if not, don't worry—because in this guide, we'll cover how to farm Valor Points and use them to upgrade your Mythic+ gear.
What are Valor Points
Valor Points are a currency that you can earn in World of Warcraft Dragonflight. You can use them to upgrade the Mythic+ gear you get from running dungeon keys. This currency was originally added back into the Shadowlands expansion to help players get ready. And now, it continues in Dragonflight. You can't use your WoW gold here; Valor Points are what you need to strengthen your current build.
Farming Valor Points
You can earn Valor Points by completing Mythic+ dungeons. Completing a dungeon will grant you 135 Valor, regardless of keystone level. This is the only way to earn Valor Points in the game. If you are part of a dungeon group that is rated Mythic+, you can receive an additional 65 Valor Points.
During the first season of Dragonflight, you can complete Mythic+ dungeons to earn Valor Points. However, the weekly limit allows you to only get a maximum of 1,500 Valor in the first week of Dragonflight Season 1. Then, for the following weeks, you can get an additional 750 Valor on top of the 1,500 Valor. These limits are character-based—not account-based. If you spend all your Valor, you can't farm another 1,500 Valor Points (or whatever the limit is) to get it back. If you have earned your weekly amount, you cannot farm Valor any more.
Luckily, the limit for Valor Points was removed by Blizzard on February 14, 2023. Now, you can grind to your heart's content in low-level Mythic+ dungeons to upgrade all your best gear to maximum item level.
Shop Using Valor
Now that you've collected enough Valor, it's time to use it. You can go straight to Corxian in Valdrakken, near Gladiator's Refuge. Here, you can upgrade any qualifying gear you might get from Mythic+ dungeons. Items obtained from the Great Vault in Mythic+ dungeons are ranked 1 to 13. Each time you increase an item's rank, the item's level and stats will increase. Currently, Dragonflight item levels range from 367 to 415.
There is a maximum number of times you can upgrade your equipment, so you'll need to determine which combination of stats and equipment works best for your build. For example, you want to prioritize items that suit your character. Note that for items that are Rank 7 (item level 395 or higher), your character must reach a certain Mythic Rank+ to upgrade that type of equipment.
Upgrading your Mythic+ Gear
You will need Valor Points to upgrade your Mythic+ gear, and the amount you need depends on the type of armor used. Let's look at the amount of Valor needed to increase the level of equipment by type.
- 250 Valor - Cloak, Bracelet, Ring, Hand, Neck, Shield
- 400 Valor - Trinkets, Shoulders, Shoes, Gloves, Belt
- 475 Courage - Legs, Helmet, Chest
- 500 Valor - One-Handed Strength Weapon, One-Handed Agility Weapon
- 750 Valor - One-Handed Weapon of Intelligence
- Valor - Two-Handed Weapon
Requirements for Increasing Certain Valor Ratings
As said before, to upgrade your equipment to a higher level, you must fulfill several prerequisites first. There are a total of 13 tiers of Valor upgrades available for purchase. The first six tiers don't require you to do anything, but beyond that, there will be requirements to meet if you want to improve your Mythic+ items further.
- Item Level 367 to 394 - None (level 1 to 6)
- Item Level 365 to 397 - Mythic+ Rating of 600 (level 7)
- Item level 398 to 404 - Mythic + Rank 1,000 (tiers 8 and 9)
- Item Level 405 to 411 - Mythic+ Rank 1,400 to 1,700 (level 10 and 11)
- Item Level 412 to 414 - Mythic + Rank 2,000 (level 12)
- Item Level 415 - Mythic Rank+ 2,400 (level 13)
Save Those Points
The early seasons could be cruel for players back then, but now that the Valor Points limit is no longer there, you won't have to put in the extra effort to save up those points and upgrade your current best items. We recommend running lower key Mythic+ dungeons if you're not in a rush to get ready. That way, you won't feel that the process of getting the best equipment is too difficult so you have to increase your WoW (WoW boosting).
