They officially parted ways with their former coach, Bluffzy, and their previous EXP Laner, Mercy "Gobs" Ratuliu, was also rumored to have parted ways with Geek Fam. In MPL ID Season 17, it appears Geek Fam is once again relying on the strengths of talented young players. For example, they officially recruited Marcel as a replacement EXP Laner, who previously shone with VL Team.

Many rumors have circulated about Geek Fam, ranging from the departure of Baloyskie to even A Boy. However, with the official roster announcement, the news about Baloyskie and Aboy remained just that, rumors. Both the skilled Roamer and Midlaner will remain with the team in MPL ID Season 17. The new player announcement video reveals that Geek Fam is indeed bringing in an imported player. Geek Fam has officially signed EXP Laner Muhammad Al-Amin "YE3" Bin Zamri from Malaysia. YE3 is an EXP Laner who previously played for CG Esports. With CG, YE3 finished runner-up in MPL Malaysia Season 16 and represented Malaysia at the M7 World Championship. Besides CG, YE3 has also played for JP Niners and Madness Esports.

Ye3's addition to the team is certainly proof of Geek Fam's trust in young players for MPL ID Season 17. Under the leadership of Baloyskie as team captain, along with MxMoore as coach, YE3 is expected to shine as the third Malaysian player to pursue a career in MPL Indonesia, following Sasa (ONIC) and Rippo (Bigetron Esports).
